I've been trying my hand at it lately.Nothing special but it does make some pretty wallpaper.

I like the red/black flower negative.

I also like how the first one makes your puppy look like a gremlin  :)

I can relate to the pure enjoyment of photography, and totally agree that as long as you get something out of it, then you are right where you need to be. I love going back and looking at old pictures I've taken (and some recent ones) and just appreciating the moment of the photo.

We do have a thread started for art, poetry, etc., so please keep them coming! Share your stuff if you want to. viewtopic.php?f=26&t=952 (http://www.happyatheistforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=952)

My film based kit was Minolta. Sony took up the Minolta lens mount so my first digital was a Sony A100, it died (but I had it repaired) so I bought an A200 (10MP, APSc size sensor). The bodies both have anti-shake built in, which is really good!

Lenses

As you can see I like Macro lenses (https://www.happyatheistforum.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg43.imageshack.us%2Fimg43%2F4330%2Fgring.gif&hash=636178b2f4403fbb79bac6871d86223491c20eb4)

That's quite a list of lenses! Nice. It's smart to invest in good glass. But you should probably get a macro lens too.  ;)

I have a 24-105 minolta but that's neither fish nor fowl so I don't use that. The Minolta 100-300mm I have is useless with the digital sensor with ghost images everywhere.

I do like the lens I was able to get my hands on though, the 75-300 zoom, awesome.  I had a rebel x film camera that I adored when I first started playing but well, everything went digital and left me in the dust.  Was really wanting the Mark II but I think it will be a while for that one.  Looking at macro lenses now.... and saving up for one  :D

I like finally being able to get shots like this without having to pose a subject and fiddle with the PS controls:

ETA, LOVE the color on those lilies of yours, love that blue color!

Semi arid some years, slightly dry others.  We have deserts of west tx to the left of us and sub tropical forests to the right of us, we are kinda in a transition area.  No real trees except in populated areas, just scrub and mesquite and live oak.
Actually getting rain this year, so far more than 10/2007 to 8/2009 combined so we have green again, I lost a few trees in the drought though.

Typical for our area:

I'm not happy with this shot, feels too yellow.  Thinking the polarizer lens wasn't turned quite far enough but give you an idea of here when it rains, otherwise you see a massive mound of cacti there in the center.

Wildlife?  Well, sir, this here is the hunting capital of TX I tell ya!  Almost our entire economy is based on hunting season.  Seriously.
White tail deer, raccoon, rabbit, skunk (several different types I might add, including ones that smell like onion), wild turkey, turkey vulture, wild hog, armadillo, bobwhite quail, dove, more dove, did I mention dove?, gray fox, ringtail cat. bob cat, mountain lion, coyotes, did you want some dove?  Have white wing and eurasian collared in the front yard..... more than willing to part with them.

Non native;
axis deer, black buck, and on particular ranches, zebra, oryx, antelope, elk.....

Have a birding friend who points out all the different birds out here, blue heron, painted bunting, brown pelicans during migration, scissor tail flycatchers, dove.....

Yep, if it moves during hunting season it's game.  There are county hosted varmint hunts every year.
Not that I have anything against dealing with over population of certain critters (like the deer and the hogs, major over population here, destructive to ranches and townsfolk), I do wish they'd leave everything else alone.

I have no objection to culling, particularly non-native species, it's when there is a careless attitude on the part of the hunters. The Spanish shoot anything and they just happen to be on the migration routes of many endangered species.
