Title: A little something for Darwin's Day
Post by: Sandra Craft on February 12, 2016, 06:39:47 PM
This may not be quite the place for this, but it seems ironically right:  15 Answers to Creationist Nonsense (http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/15-answers-to-creationist/)

Politicians and creationists make shit up to bolster their cases. In both lines of endeavor, the individuals are willing, sometimes deliberate, victims of the curse: "A little knowledge is dangerous".

Thanks for posting that, BooksCatsEtc, and thanks for bumping, it, Icarus. Some may find it entertaining to observe how Creationists dealt with that article: "15 Answers to John Rennie and Scientific American's Nonsense (By section)" | Apologetics Press (http://www.apologeticspress.org/apcontent.aspx?category=9&article=1104)

The authors of that piece are both trained as biologists, but they're also adept at all of the familiar techniques used by Creationists to distort and weasel away from the knowledge science had given us when it comes to evolution. Poor old Bert Thompson was tragically seduced by the Devil into apparently engaging in some forbidden hanky-panky with young men/boys, which got him fired from his job (http://www.christianchronicle.org/article/longtime-director-of-apologetics-press-fired) at Apologetics Press.

It seems that the Apologetics writer has gotten his knickers in a twist. Heaven forbid that he become so agitated about an article in a magazine. On the other hand, the magazine is Scientific American. Every one knows that that sciency thing is unreliable and based on pure speculation.

Seriously, the Apologetics person writes well even though he appears to invent his own reality.
