Schubert is indeed worth exploring — I don't think I could live without listening to him quite often. His output is so big that it is useful to use the D system to refer to his compositions to avoid confusion. It sounds like to too much effort, but one gets used to it very soon, and then it becomes second nature.

I urge you to listen to his lieder for a wonderful experience. Here is a delightful performance of one I've loved since my childhood, the D. 965, also known as Der Hirt auf dem Felsen.
