So what was the first album you bought for yourself?
On Vinyl: Not music but the audio book for War of the Worlds. (I missed this format but is mainly how I buy music now)
On Cassette: Tricky - Maxinquaye.
On CD: Prodigy - Fat of the Land.
Digital download: Never bought a digital album. Edit: actually I did it was RJD2 - Since We Last Spoke.
On vinyl: "Big Lizard in my Backyard" The Dead Milkmen
On Cassette: "Among the Living" Anthrax
CD: Can't remember
;D
I think my first CD that I bought was the ABBA Gold CD :D

It was, I think, in 1965. I can't remember my first CD.
It was a 'Top of the Pops' cover version album. In the dim and distant past record companies refused to mix their original recordings with other record companies. So the only way you could get a compliation album was for session musicians to do cover versions of all the tracks.
I think my first CD must've been Spice Girls or something. I just recently bought my first vinyl, and it was Ghost's album "Opus Eponymous".
Vinyl - Rolling Stones Some Girls, probably their last great album, for some of us anyway.
Tape - I used tapes I didn't buy them pre recorded, I got a dodgy Pink Floyd Final Cut from a market, didn't like it much.
CD - Midnight Oil Diesel and Dust, I think.
I don't like digital downloads, detest Itunes, I prefer CDs and ripping them to lossless Flac files.

I remember that album fondly from when I was a youngster.
I'm pretty sure that the first album I bought was the original Broadway soundtrack recording of
HAIR. I ended up knowing pretty much all of the songs on it by heart (there are some great ones).

I hate to admit it, but It was the 1972 compilation album "Hits voor zomaar een zomeravond" http://www.discogs.com/Hans-van-Hemert-Hits-Voor-Zomaar-Een-Zomeravond/release/1349393 On that album there is only one song that I still like, namely Group 1850's Mother No-Head.
The first CD that I bought was Kate Bush's "The Kick Inside"
Wow, thats going back a way. I think it was John Cougar Mellencamp Uh-Huh.
Erm....
Cassette - Best of the Shadows. (I was 9 years old okay?!.... :P )
CD - Alice in Chains - Facelift
Cassette: REM's Out of Time
CD: I think it was Sennsucht by Rammstein. (I think... There are a few possible competitors for my first CD...)
The Eagles' first album.

I bought it fresh off the shelf on my own. I had albums before but they were bought for me:

Oh phew, I was worried there for a moment.
I thought Bieber had gone blond and taken up smoking.
Oh LULZ, this brings back memories.
I'm pretty sure my first album I bought with my saved allowence was ORGY's "candyass" or Goo goo dolls. Oh, 12yr old Sweetdeath. XD
I think the first ever album that I bought myself was this:
(https://www.happyatheistforum.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fcdn.songonlyrics.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2011%2F04%2FNightwish_Wishmaster.jpg&hash=4b980b50fd99d5b23263e5cb121f69c85b7663d0)
Most of the other music I got was either recived as b-day gifts or xmas gifts or loaned from the local library....

I have this!!! IT RULES!
Yeah, Wishmaster is one of the best album's from Nightwish, and I think I have almost all of them, apart from the latest two (no, I'm not one of those Anette haters, I just haven't had the money or the intrest to buy them yet :P ).
Now, I didin't buy it but the next best album was definately Sonata Arctica - Winterheart's Guild. I usually had one or the other of these playing on the background when I was in my room ;D
And I still have both album's songs on my computers music player as "favorites" ;)
Got meself Scarecrow by Avantasia some time back and can recommend it to those who like Nightwish and Sonata Arctica
Wow, I havent listened to Sonata artica since I was 18 ! X_x You guys have great taste.

I'll have a look at that. I got Nightwish's End Of An Era live dvd - that's great - I don't think the new singer is up to Tarja's standard so I haven't bought any of the new stuff. I really like Sonata Arctica too - I got Winterheart's Guild and the live dvd. Good stuff!

This one is the more known song from Scarecrow.

It sounded pretty interesting, will have to listen a bit more...
I alse recomend
Celesty. Their apparently not that famous but I love their Vandetta album, it has a bit of old Sonata feel to it... ;D
An example: Celesty - New Sin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0Q_BsVp4OQ)
On another note, guess who named his Space Marine Chapter Templars (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3OaO_aeQNM) of Steel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htKY2oD85rs&ob=av3e). ;) :P And I'm not so sure about Saxon, but
Korpiklaani,
Ensiferum and
Turisas are awesome (https://www.happyatheistforum.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.neogeoforlife.com%2Fimages%2Fsmiley%2Frock2.gif&hash=433542c824ee25bd43a26a6fc417db0cbbcdef87) And
Sabaton too ;D

Nice one - I saw Saxon play Falmouth earlier this year with Wolfsbane supporting. Brilliant night, I was well chuffed. As for Wolfsbane, it was good to see that Blaze Bayley has stopped trying to take himself too seriously - the first time I saw Wolfsbane about 20 years ago Blaze was a complete arsehole.
Hope you enjoy the gig!! :)
