Poor New Orleans.  Ida is projected to be a Category 4 Hurricane when it hits the Louisiana coast. Nature appears to have it in for that state and city.

years ago i interviewed in new orleans with shell oil for a position as a geologist. ended up gling to work for exxon in west texas instead.

but while i was tbere i asked where people lived, and ghey recommended metaire across the lake.

metaire went 12 feet under water during katrina later on. and looks like it might be doing it again.

south louisiana is a fascinating place, but i wouldnt want to live there

The only person I know in New Orleans is making plans to move to Canada because they're uncertain of what climate change will bring to the city in the near future. Pretty fricking scary and sad.

Despite a clear sky with sunshine, it is -1° today. The predicted snowfalls are unlikely.

Probably there are some folks who will welcome Tropical Storm Peter.

...inhabitants are, as the man once said, 'whores, pimps, gamblers, and sons of bitches,' by which he meant everybody. Had the man looked through another peephole he might have said, 'saints and angels and martyrs and holy men,' and he would have meant the same thing. John Steinbeck

What is this doing off the coast of northern NSW?
Take my advice, don't listen to me.

Not to be picky, but 39.1 mm isn't very big.

Today is a very windy fifty degrees F. I'll be out on the water soon enough. Hopefully there isn't too much spray.

Well it snowed last night and north of here the winds gusted to 100mph. One person killed in the lake district by a falling tree :(

drove my steel into dallas. got done at about 1930, and had to drive 70 miles to oklahoma before i could find a place to park. i do not like cities.

but i spent the night in the chickasaw nation, where i have 180 years of ancestors buried. and it was refreshing to be back in tbe prairies aga8n. drove out through the sac and fox, the seminole, the creek, and the cherokee.

loaded a 32000 pound coil of aluminum in arkansas and im headed for kentucky tomorrow
