Should we talk about the weather?

I am unaware that Iguanas climb trees.  Do you have those critters confused with  Aussie Drop Bears?

Tonight the evil weather demons will arrive. We are predicted to have freezing temps in Sunny Florida. I spent an hour or more covering some of the decorative plants in my yard.  The drill is to cover the plants with some sort of cloth to help keep the frost off the plants.  We commonly have decorative plants that cannot withstand freezing unless protected.

Nearby is the community of Plant City Florida, the nation's capitol of strawberry farming.  January is right in the midst of the strawberry harvest season.  Many thousands of acres of that crop will be in danger.  It is a routine method for the strawberry farmers to use sprinkler irrigation to flood the nearly ripe plants,  That will form an ice cover over the plants.  To me, the non agriculturalist, that does not seem to be an obvious scheme to avoid destroying the crop.  It does work quite well if the freeze is of short duration.

We have a confusing weather system here.  Tonight it may freeze.  By next Thursday the forecast is for daytime temps in the low 80s  (27C) ................ I think that I did the conversion correctly this time BP.

It seems that iguanas do climb trees.  I did not know that.  I have never seen one of those critters or become familiar with their habits.  Iguanas appear in south Florida and do not exist in central Florida about 200 miles north.  We do have more alligators than we need.  Those things are all over the southern coastal states, particularly in Florida and Louisiana.

We do have some dangerous lizard creatures not far from me.  They are mainly on an Island on our west coast.  They are monitor lizards who grow to 20 kg or more.  They are predators who kill small household pets and whatever wildlife they can capture and eat.  We do not have them in the mainland and hope that we never do.  These are the result of the exotic animal fanciers who have adopted a few of them to impress their neighbors or curious friends.  Of course some of them have been abandoned to fend for themselves which they do rather well. The same deal for our huge Pythons who live in the swamp areas at the most southern part of the state. Amateur herpetologists are being blamed for the release of "their pets" into the wild.    I am almost certain the Pythons do not climb trees.  I do suspect that they might have the ability to do so if they had sufficient reason.

We got hit with quite a bit of snow here in southeastern Michigan earlier this week. Most of it fell on Wednesday and Thursday,...I figure we received close to 14 inches.

Fortunately my office allowed all of us to work at home most of the week, so I didn't have to deal with all of the traffic and other headaches involved with driving to and from work each day in a snow storm. In fact yesterday was the first time I left the house since Tuesday!

Although I didn't see it, I did find the prints of a wild penis in my backyard! Not a very big one by Michigan standards, but in some countries like the UK I understand this would be considered huge! 8)

I'm going to report Papasito's porno picture ^ to the moderator.

And as for Tank, I see that he is becoming nearly as clever with pertinent videos as our resident champion, Magdalena.
^ I'll be damned, snakes can, in fact, climb trees.

Last week we got hit with 12 plus inches of snow, and I spent hours shoveling snow. Yesterday, it lightly rained all day so now most of the snow is gone, and it looks yucky outside.

Not sure who's in charge of the weather, but how about after you dump a bunch of snow on us, you let it stick around for a while. It looked nice out in the yard, and at the park...last Sunday my son and I took a family friend and her young son sledding (7 year old). They had moved here from Florida, and it was his first time sledding (Plus we bought him a starter snowboard for Christmas)
We had so much fun (He had a blast), we were going to take him again tomorrow, but now all the snow is gone... :-[

i live south of you, but we had it as well. we had the snow, then sun and freeze turned it to firn, then rain fell and filled up the interstices, and so the driveway became a solid sheet of slick ice. its on a slope, and we had to put bricks under the wheels because if we didnt the parked cars wuld slide backwards with locked wheels into the road. very disconcerting when you are trying to get the groceries out.
