OK, interesting thesis, but paints with a broad brush. Even if we allow that Dawkins is a rationalist, I think it's a misrepresentation to claim that he conflates genes with memes. To attempt to broaden that to rationalists in general appears indefensible.
Lamarckism in the realm of memes doesn't appear completely rubbish to me, but I'm willing to entertain a support of the claim that it is. :smilenod:
Richard Dawkins continues to this day to fancy eugenics but he just won't commit, mainly because he doesn't believe in bad science.
The rationalist is a religious type.
Rationalism is essentialist.
The rationalist deduces from reason.
The empiricist induces from experience.
The rationalists on both sides are rubbish is all I know.
