Religion / Catholics and the supernatural
Last post by zorkan - May 19, 2024, 01:22:32 PM
As I like a bit of the supernatural myself, we (the lapsed Catholics) now need to be on our guard.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/may/17/vatican-rules-supernatural-phenomena-crackdown-hoaxes#:~:text=Apparitions%20of%20the%20Virgin%20Mary,against%20potential%20scams%20and%20hoaxes.

No more apparitions, weeping Madonna's, miracles of the sky unless verified by the pope.
What next? No more incarnation, creed, mystery of the Eucharist?

Or could it be just the age we're now living in is a touch more sceptical?
Is the Catholic church, like Jesus, on toast?

I survived sepsis. I had no effects from the op and didn't notice passing the clips.

The doctor who did my roto-rooter procedure was a male who got his med degree in Syria. The anasthesiologist was a female from Southeast Asia. All the nurses were female, one of them Hispanic. The procedure was done in my local hospital which is an enormous facility with an international staff.

The doc installed four metal clips which I am told will release themselves and pass within 3 to 4 weeks. It appears that the metal clips are used often, but not invariably. If they are used to close an opening in the colon as a result of polyp removal then................Sheeesh!  Any leakage of the colon is likely to cause sepsis. I am told that Sepsis, unless controlled PDQ, is sure to make you dead.

Quote from: Icarus on May 18, 2024, 03:05:10 AMI have had some symptoms that suggested colorectal cancer. Not a happy thing to contemplate.  A Colonoscopy this past week found several polyps that were removed. None of them were cancerous. Oh Happy Day!

Good news. I had three polyps out a while back. I have to say the experience was surreal with a female proctologist, 3 nurses and 2 trainee nurses all female. I suspect there would be some people who would have paid good money for the experience!  ;D

Splendid to hear, Tank.  I noticed that you were looking pretty trim in the photo you posted recently.  :thumb:
