I am a student of science and reason. Background in geology, geochemistry, environmental law, and environmental policy. Became an atheist at the age of 8, when I was thrown out of Episcopalian Sunday School class for questioning the concept that "God always was, and is, and always will be" -- as I knew from my much older brother that the universe was "created"' by the Big Bang, and stars had lifecycles, which made me understand that there was a start and finish to everything. Have never been able to reconcile my empirically-derived conclusions about the world with the ridiculous things I was being taught by religion.
