I am grumpy because some jackass hacked my AOL E Mail function. He/she/it used every address that I have written to within the last five years.  I am getting WTF letters from a lot of my contacts. If any of you get a letter from RSTinstruments@AOL.com ignore it . I do not know the content of the phony messages, likely some sort of scam.  >:(

:o

That happened to me last year, turns out it was some sort of malware.

You two need to stay away from those online porno sites.

I saw this item, and immediately thought of you two. Might be a wise choice to sign up for this service. ;D

That looks cheap. It would probably give me an allergic reaction.

Picked up two shifts at the dorm this week, and of course I get the two most drama-filled days so far this year.

Long story short version: Teacher calls from the school because he's worried about a girl living in the dorm. Girl admits to thinking about hurting herself. And we spend the next two days watching her like a hawk. Finally, yesterday a decision was made to send her to an in-patient facility.
I do hope she gets over whatever it is, but I will admit it is a load off all our backs that she is someone else's responsibility now.

That's rough. I'm glad she's getting some help, and I understand how you feel. We had to deal with a similar situation like that when I was a camp counselor so many years ago

^ that's why I always keep a few pills on hand, some at home, others in my bag - you never know when you're going to need them.

As for my reason to be grumpy: so much to do, so little time and way too much procrastination.  :haironfire:

Stupid passport photo machine has made me grumpy.

I'm taking scampus to Disneyland Paris as a surprise in August so she obviously needs a passport. Was hoping to keep it all secret but the stupid machine kept asking questions like "is this for a passport", " these photos are for a passport " etc etc. Now she knows she's getting a passport!

Tell her it's for a really boring meeting that you have to go to and that you had no choice but to bring her too.

Or if she's like I was at that age, she'll forget in a few weeks anyway.  ;D

I'll keep my opinion of Disneyland Paris to myself. I will offer one piece of advice. If you intend to dress Scamp up as a princess sort the costume out BEFORE you go and take it with you! What they have their are shite priced like diamond! If you're going to stay for the firework display take something to sit on as there are no seats.

So as part of the battery of tests we took for our unborn child, I got tested for Tay Sachs disease. If you've never heard of it, it's a horrible condition that basically destroys the neurons in the brain and leads to early death. It's common mostly in Ashkenazi jews (like me) and really rare otherwise. If someone inherits it from only one parent, they're not affected but can be a carrier. Two carrier parents have to pass it on to affect the child. And my wife is not Ashkenazi. But my test came back inconclusive, so they tested her out of an abundance of caution.
Yup, positive.
Before you freak out (like we did), there's a lot of reasons this doesn't mean anything yet. Her test has a higher possibility of false positives in non-Ashkenazis, mine came back negative for carrying the DNA mutations most readily associated with the disease, and if by some bizarreness we're both carriers, it doesn't necessarily mean we'll pass it on. That being said...fuck. We're seeing a genetic counselor on Tuesday to figure out next steps.

This must be very worrying for you both. I hope it goes well with the counsellor.

What horrid news to get. I hope the counsellor has more positive news.

Sorry Firebird, I was in a somewhat similar situation when my wife was pregnant with our son, so I have an idea how horrible this is right now for you and your wife.

I'll be hoping along with the others here that your counselor has better news for you.

Take care.
