Hawking himself hypothesized (https://www.livescience.com/53363-stephen-hawking-black-holes-have-hair.html) hairy black holes.  ;)  Not that I claim to have a thorough grasp of what these fellows are talking about.  Took a look at the paper (https://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.128.111301) and was soon out of my depth.
