Title: Atheists of YouTube
Post by: Asmodean on June 27, 2008, 01:20:10 AM
Pat Condell (http://www.youtube.com/user/patcondell)
QuoteToo lazy and stupid to think for yourself? Welcome to Jesus country.
I hope you enjoy the videos, whether you agree with them or not.

Edvard Current (http://www.youtube.com/user/EdwardCurrent)
QuoteMy religion videos are comedies. I am not a Christian.

Thunderf00t (http://www.youtube.com/user/thunderf00t)
QuoteThe true beauty of a self-inquiring sentient universe is lost on those who elect to walk the intellectually vacuous path of comfortable paranoid fantasies

Fighting Atheist (http://www.youtube.com/user/FightingAtheist)
QuoteI found answers to all my religious questions. I used to teach others the answers to those questions. One day I realized I was deceiving myself and others. Logic rules over nonsense. Evidence rules over faith. Faith is a detriment not a virtue. Losing my religion was extremely difficult. My mother still cries about it. Life was easier when I believed.

Others will never understand what people like myself and other ex-Christians have been through unless they experience it themselves. Open your mind to the possibility that religion just might be false, you might realize the delusion. It is like seeing the world through a new set of glasses. Everything becomes so clear. Gods are all man made.

PrexicKehdaki (http://www.youtube.com/user/PrexicKehdaki)
QuoteZarathustra, Mohammed, Nanak, Siddhartha Gautama, Jesus, Sathya Sai Baba, Joseph Smith, Guru Maharishi Mahest Yogi, L. Ron Hubbard, and many other historic figures all supposedly lived lives full of miracles, gathered atleast millions and even billions of followers some to this day, and taught men the divine secrets to attain salvation.

And every one of their followers will tell you the same thing.

Their prophet, their guru, their holyman-superstar is the real deal, and all the rest were either misguided, a fraud, or didn't really exist.

Can you really blame me for being an atheist?

Thanks for all the great links. I am a huge fan of Edward Current. My favorite of his is the cartoon of the atheist who dies.

I believe the reason his satires work so well is the fact that they don't stray too far from what these people actually believe. He cleverly walks the line so finely that many Christians who watch his work can't figure out if he's serious or not.

I recently posted scenes from my feature film CHAPTERS AND VERSE on YOU TUBE. You can check it out here:

If you check out my favorites, you can also see scenes from my other feature film SAINTS & ANGELS, which is abut Atheists who are also Animal Rights Activists.

I wrote the screenplays and Directed them, and was one of the producers. The entire cast and crew were volunteers. We shot each film in less than a week for essentially no budget, so don't expect STAR WARS.

I am now working on a series of pro-Atheist documentaries meant to show Atheists in a positive light.

Enjoy!

As far as I know, no one has posted these atheist youtube accounts:

ZJ:
http://www.youtube.com/user/ZJemptv (http://www.youtube.com/user/ZJemptv)

He covers a wide variety of topics including atheism, and his videos are pretty insightful.

Theoretical Bullshit (Scott):
http://www.youtube.com/user/TheoreticalBullshit (http://www.youtube.com/user/TheoreticalBullshit)

On his channel you'll find his thoughts on Religion, Atheism, Philosophy, Morality, and Skepticism.
And to boot he is a rather studly young man if I don't say so myself!

ProfMTH:
http://www.youtube.com/user/ProfMTH (http://www.youtube.com/user/ProfMTH)

This is another must see youtuber, I believe he's a Professor at a NYC university, I might be mistaken (there's not really a lot known about his background)
BUT he tackles a lot of subjects on religion from difficult Christians sects, biblical contradictions, etc. And his videos are not only informative but funny as well.

frisbeesANDflipflops (Nikki):
http://www.youtube.com/user/frisbeesANDflipflops (http://www.youtube.com/user/frisbeesANDflipflops)

Another Atheist youtuber who makes videos about her journey from theism to atheism.

Proteanview (Ed):
http://www.youtube.com/user/proteanview (http://www.youtube.com/user/proteanview)

He's either Atheist or Agnostic, I forget which one. Here's an excerpt from him:

QuoteMore content than animation here. My videos are not research projects. They're ideas & questions to facilitate discussion & research by you, the viewer.

The Peach:
http://www.youtube.com/user/xxxThePeachxxx (http://www.youtube.com/user/xxxThePeachxxx)

QuoteI am an avid supporter of critical thinking and common sense; appeals to emotion and abstract questions don't impress me. There are many lovely ideas and suggestions dealing with the origins of life, our planet, and the universe, but without credible evidence, there's no reason to believe any of it is true.

Meh, there are still a lot of people not listed that I'm subscribed to, but the list was getting pretty long so I decided to end it here.

I've been a subscriber to a lot of these channels for a while now. Lots of excellent material (both from a humorous and informational stand point). On Easter, some friends and I actually got the motivation to start making our own videos. I threw one together pretty quickly Sunday (I wasn't very happy with it, but whatever... need to start somewhere). If anyone would like to check it out, here's the link to our channel page: http://www.youtube.com/laughatreligion (http://www.youtube.com/laughatreligion)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pVAe9Yt6j8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pVAe9Yt6j8)

excerpt from the channel page:
QuoteEscaping religion and indoctrination from youth is probably one of the most difficult tasks you could ever face. I remember being a doubter in church and being told that all I needed was a mustard seed of faith. That god would reveal himself to me in time. There were so many things presented to me that just strung me on through delusion. Isn't it funny how god keeps having to "prove himself" in people's lives?

One of our (yes, our) goals is to present some of the absurdities of the bible. The fact that any of these stories hold credibility is amazing. They play them up as a big, emotional message to appeal to the naive.

There's a lot of Christians out there that are good people. It actually saddens me to see them in psychological slavery to a fairy tale.

This is what he wrote under the About Me:

"A former Christian of 30 years, I ultimately found that religion, faith and scripture lacked any true answers, especially in the (bright) light of scientific discovery and the truth of Evolution by Natural Selection.

Having an insiders perspective of Christianity, I use my skills as a producer to stir the pot of debate and, hopefully, make it uncomfortable for anyone to be a mere spectator in the arena of ideas."

It is what I subscribe to.

Anyone seen his recent videos? Seems to be dividing opinion big time.

QuoteDo you reject science and all it brings? Will you have the courage to reject science and grasp at symbols of your religion when you are lying in hospital bed, close to death? Will you place your faith in prayer rather than penicillin ? Will you die fighting a war fighting for your religious values ? Would you kill infidels in the name of an intangible entity ? Will you continue to consume resources in a finite world because a 2000 year old book tells you that you have dominion over all living things?
If you accept the bible as the unshakeable word of god that is your right. However, the evidence for your decision is flawed. Maybe it is flawed in culture, family ties or your are simply a victim of propaganda. To deal with the power of the institute that promotes an infallible doctrine is difficult if you are born into a place where it is considered the norm, but critical thinking will show there is only one conclusion.
There is no God.

QuoteIf atheism is a "religion", then Not Collecting Stamps is a "hobby". I don't argue that "god" doesn't exist. I'm not concerned about proofs, or likelihoods, or probabilities, of there being a "God" or not. Actually, I lean towards there being some kind of a creative force, though I would not argue for that being the case, and I have absolutely no idea of the nature of what such a "force" might be. I argue against the idea that the Bible has anything to do with truth in the areas of divinity or spirituality. The Bible is a demonstrably revolting and appalling piece of writing. It is morally redundant, and so full of murder, revenge, punishment, war, and bigotry that it amazes me that anyone can even mistake it for being in any way "holy".

As a young adult, I was a seminarian and then a Catholic priest, for a total of twelve years. I am now an atheist. I now deeply regret those twelve years as wasted years. Some of the reasons that I now make religious videos are: I want to make up for those wasted years. I value truth and rational thought. I see much harm and evil coming from religious faith. I am convinced that, as rational thought increases and faith recedes, our human species will evolve in better directions, and I want to contribute to that evolution.

Pointing out the beauty of the Universe and Science, errors in religion, and just giving alot of commentary on a host of different subjects. You'd all do well to browse his videos.

An Atheist Amnesiac - my relatively unknown channel. I mostly take theists, known or unknown, and use them to provide focal points for videos, debunking theist myths (proofs for god, misconceptions about atheism, etc.) in my irritatingly condescending way.

Thanks all who view. Feedback and criticism is much appreciated.

England's apologetic elements really rile him up.
