Naw, "taking a dump" is a necessary, useful and healthy biological function. And even what is left can promote growth or make energy.
Whereas "necessary", "useful" and "healthy", or perhaps even "function", cannot truly be applied to politics and the by product is often an insult to humanity.

My issues with Hillary, are that she is like a normal politician, and I wanted someone who was better than that. She is pretty good, but there were others that I thought were better. Oh well.

Actually there are Christians amongst the Syrians refugees. Unfortunately there are (non alt-right) witness accounts that Christian refugees were thrown overboard at sea and are being mistreated and discriminated by Muslim refugees in the refugee shelters. The same for LGBT refugees. Here in Germany we separate these refugees groups, in order to protect the Christians and LGBTs against Muslim aggression.

^Interesting. Would increased tribalism and religiosity be due to Terror Management Theory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terror_management_theory)?
That could well be. The common mistake that liberals make is that they think the refugees are "better" people, because 1. they are a minority; 2. they went through a lot of hardship and (perhaps) 3.it is a bit romantic to help them. Well, I believe that hardship doesn't make people better, but make them more desperate instead.
Last year we imported more than 1 million refugees in Germany. That caused loads of social friction, because these refugees came from backward cultures, where humans-, women-, LGBT- and animal rights are practically unknown. The refugee's expectations were also set too high, because they were promised houses, money, cars, loose women, etc. for free.
Who promised those refugees cars, money, and all those other goodies???
Do those refugees actually believe in Santa Clause?

It were the human traffickers who made these promises. These criminal bastards also promised a safe journey on luxury ships with swimming pools on board, etc. The refugees made Germany look like a land of milk and honey. This "misinformation" was fueled by messages that came German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
In September 2015, as thousands of migrants a day were converging on Europe, German Chancellor Angela Merkel issued an astounding pledge. In the face of raging wars in the Middle East, she said there was "no limit" to the number of refugees Germany could accept. That promise — along with some of the most generous refugee benefits in the world — made the same country that sparked World War II an asylum seeker's paradise.
Quote from: Icarus on February 19, 2017, 05:21:38 AM
Do those refugees actually believe in Santa Clause?
Yes. To be PC incorrect: many of these so-called refugees are non-educated, testosterone driven, aggressive young man from backward countries.
It would seem that for people who already believe so much crap about getting 72 virgins and I-don't-know-what-else in the afterlife that's no big leap.

Whatever. No question in my mind that the French made the right choice.
I don't agree. I think that France has many economical and social problems that are not going to be solved by another elitarian socialist. This was a kind of "please don't rock the boat" election. We'll see the same thing happen in Germany later this year, where Angela Merkel will again win the election, even though many people think that she made horrendous decisions (like dumping money in Greek's "black hole; shutting down nuclear reactors without an exit strategy and leaving the door wide open to ISIS soldiers and thousands of fortune seeking, uneducated, testosterone driven migrants).
In the same vein, I think that Hillary wouldn't have solved too many problems, but compared to what we've got right now, I'd much prefer a president that didn't do much of anything to current shit show that's ruining the lives of millions of people.
I don't have too much knowledge of French politics, but the economical thing comes up in US politics quite a bit and it's rarely ever not bullshit. Just a cursory glance at how the "economically focused" Republicans shows that they are actually much worse for economics even though many people say that is the reason they vote for them. The closer you look at how "fiscally conservative" the GOP is, the worse it looks. And from here, it looks like the same scenario for the French.
I think that the French made the right decision.
Well at least he is taking global warming serious. For the rest, I think his policies will be quite similar like those of François Hollande (who has the honor of being the most unpopular president in French history).

But you... I can't picture what you sound like no matter how hard I might try. It's your word choices that do it I think. In one post you take on a professorial air and in another my mental eight track spews sounds of Stuey from Family Guy. It's so frickin' frustrating and I don't know why.

 That's funny because I read everyone's posts with my own mind's voice (and don't think anything of it)
except for Bruce's which is in a heavy Texan accent. I started reading his posts that way after watching his Wall video.
JJ those remarks have the potential for opening up a whole new subject for conversational exchange. That could be stimulating and include replies from several others of us.
I suspect that the differences between our ages has some bearing on the possible interpretations of our individual voices.
In my case I believe that I have a slight, minimally present, southern accent. The key and timbre of my voice is down the middle, not imposing but at appropriate occasions somewhat bombastic. I have a moderate to subdued temper and am not inclined to become boisterous over smaller slights. I usually Choose to take the philosophic position that there are a lot of stupid people who have not sufficiently developed the discipline to behave rationally when things go against their grain.
Then there is the alcohol. I am not a habitual boozer but I do enjoy my intermittent excursions into the bachanalian world. That may very well affect the tone and sensibility of my posts. Thus the possible family guy persona.
In any case I hold almost all of the HAF regulars in high esteem. We do have some bright, fun, and thoughtful people here. I have not previously tried to channel any of their voices but.....now I might give it some thought..... Recusant would have the voice of a supreme court judge......I would think of Silver as an erudite but modest contralto, OG is a politely pedantic voice with a well developed sense of humor, Asmo is super bright dude who is not at all as evil as he pretends, Books is a darling school teacher type that we can adore, PC is a bit of a firebrand but we like her take on things sometimes, .....and....fill in the blanks to suit ones own perceptions.
JJ if you and I lived closer we could almost surely be friends because we are both gear heads who know how to fix things. Voices be damned. We could include Gloucester and a couple of others in our little band of DIY builder type guys. ,,,,,,,,
There I have exposed myself........How 'bout some of you others tell us how you think you relate to HAFers and to general society in terms of voice and personality quirks.
in terms of full disclosure, it is past 9 PM and there have been two rum toddies preceding this capricious post.

But the "Trump" once said that "I went to an Ivy League school. I have words, the best words. But there's no better word than stupid." and the crowd roars with excitement.
Taken what I know from the fact that he was once a TV Star, and that reality shows where you have to play a part can get you so confused that you actually believe you are the character you are portraying, reality and fantasy can become blurred. However, the fact that he said "there is no better word than stupid" expresses what he holds in high regard "stupidity".
So not only does this man believe his own bullshit, he also actively wants to be stupid.
Oh my god the willfully ignorant just became president.

It never ceases to make me cringe to see old documentaries from the 50s and 60s showing machine tool operators not wearing eye protection!
I don't think we had eye protection in wood or metal shop, in the '60s. I was college prep, but still managed to take 4 years of wood shop and 3-1/2 years of metal shop (includes summer school). There was a face shield for wood turners, though. Dangerous places. One of the guys lit the gas forge with the cover on, instead of swinging it aside. He got what's called an "instant haircut" and it took many weeks for his eyes to recover from the heat. His eyelashes had been fused together when he blinked, too. He's lucky he wasn't blinded. I wore and still wear Dr Pepper lens specs, so didn't get any eye damage. Very handy when I'm doing wood and metal working in my "shop". My foot is almost healed enough for me to start back in on my clam shell project I started so many months ago. Haven't touched that in about 5 months.
Jimmy is very nearly my favorite Christian. He was, despite the lasting criticism, a good president. The problem was that he was/is an incompetent politician.

that series was a fascinating comment on human political science. it has been long underrated. herbert became more and more insightful as they went on
the motion picture was primitive in its special effects by recent standards, but th egenius who designed the sets managed them perfectly.
That scene is from when the Duke Leto bites into the cyanide-laced tooth Doctor Yueh implanted in an effort to bring the Baron down. It's in the book.

Oh yes. I recognised scenes from the Mad Max reboot, The Chronicles of Riddick and even Gladiator. Possibly the low quality scenes of the desert dunes in the beginning are from an older film, such as Lawrence of Arabia or even the original Dune itself, not sure as it's been a really long time since I've watched either and don't remember the details. There are even a couple of weird takes of Timothée Chalamet that seem to be interview footage.
I gave the video a thumbs down in frustration.

Tank, to ease your mind, the video was a colossal spoof of the Trump assholery. It is humorous and if Trump sees it, he will almost surely become apoplectic..........but then what else is new? Maybe not!

I've never in my wildest dreams thought that something like this would come to fruition.
How's it going on your side of the pond? Without Trump coverage of US politics in the UK has dropped dramatically.
It's a lot quieter now. There is less to worry about. We already knew that Biden wasn't going to fix everything and be a champion for the people, but he is still moving the needle in the right direction.
Unfortunately Trump still has a lot of control over the Republican party, Liz Cheney was replaced by a less conservative (and oddly some one who voted more often against Trump policies), Trump supporter. Seemingly only because Liz Cheney refused and was against the big lie that Trump didn't lose the election.
I hope that this leads to the downfall of the Republican party, but looking over history, this could be the part just after the start of America's first dictator that leads us into a fascist state where we are no longer democracy and we as Americans lose even more freedom. There was a lot of talk of splitting the Republican party, and I really hope that happens. I don't have a big problem with what used to be Republican stated values. Having a healthy debate where people discuss the best way to fix a problem is far better than having Republicans deny that there even is a problem when world is dying.
There are so many people that still deny facts and are trying so hard to rewrite everything that happened and are so far gone from reality that it really feels like talking to insane people. Like Maxine Waters, she said "get more confrontational." and the "conservatives" lost their shit acting like and saying that she was advocating for violence and destruction. Like what she said was on the same level as calling for an insurrection. They are trying so hard to make it look like BoTh SiDeS aRe ThE sAmE or YoUr SiDe'S nO bEtTeR that they have to warp reality to make it happen. And you can see it happen in real time, or at least follow it back. The first take on what Maxine Waters said, was just some dumbass saying she wants riots to happen, and then the next dumbass will take it a little further and eventually what she said turns into her saying we need to burn the whole country down. And no "conservative" seems to ever look up what she actually said. We have an example here on our forums of Tom62 getting manipulated by talking heads instead of looking up what she actually said. It's insane. They are insane by choice. And it's not getting any better.
And then we have people still questioning the results of the election. In my state there is a company from Florida called Cyber Ninjas that has been allowed access to the ballets, and done in a way that is against the law too. The guy running the company is someone who publicly stated without a shred of evidence that the election was stolen. Now they're looking for bamboo in the paper because some idiot on the internet said 40k ballets were flown in from China and apparently just saying things is all that's needed for these dumb fucks to follow any stupid thing. Nearly all of the people hired to help out are pulling in wearing MAGA hats and Trump bumper stickers, so I'm sure it's going to be unbiased. And on top of all that, there was already two investigations that found nothing.
So much to rant about. I just wish these "conservatives" would be less easily manipulated by rhetoric and more easily by facts.
Quite depressing really :(
I'm not interested in defending the Republicans nor attacking Democrats. I'm merely an observer watching the USA going through a very tough time because both parties now seem to hate each other. Some of that hate is fuelled continuously by the media. They seem to have lost any responsibility and is not interested in publishing facts but opinions. I truly hope that the USA gets rid of that hate and that the people on both sides of the political spectrum start building bridges again.

Poor Joe. He has to bear the blame for those problems. Truth to tell he inherited most of them through no fault of his own. He need not shoulder the blame for the supply chain crisis or the rampant inflation. He is getting precious little help from the other side to try to mitigate these problems. He does not get a get out of jail free card because he is not being very aggressive toward his accusers.
The Democrats are being pussies about refuting all the damnable lies that the other side is using to undermine the left. The Dems are going to have to become far more confrontational, else the party will suffer and the pols will lose their cushy jobs. Joe and his people better get damned mad and conspicuously boisterous.
the democrats in congress are the ones who have shot themselves in the foot and have screwed biden at the same time. by refusing to compromise amongst themselves they have succeeded in laying a red carpet for the republicans to re-take the house and the senate in 2022.
when the republicans come back in they will swing the wrecking ball at everything they can.

The energy source in Europe is not entirely clear. On the one hand, Russia can hold a few of the western European nations in fear of having their natural Gas supply taken away. Turkmenistan can hold Russia in some fear of having the Supply to Russia taken asway.
It seems that Turkestan has massive fields of gas reserves. Turkmenistan is selling Russia a five year deal that delivers 194 billion cubic feet of gas per annum.
To hell with Russia, the best customer is China. 1.4 trillion cubic feet to China. But the president of Turkmenistan has a name that is suspect.........Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. Names be damned, Turkmenistan has that area of Europe at their mercy.
Kandiss Taylor is running in the GOP gubernatorial primary in Georgia. Her website says she's an educator with two decades of experience, but for some reason she chose not to put commas after "Jesus" or "Guns."
Georgia currently ranks 38th in the nation in child and family well-being, and firearms are the first-leading cause of death among children and teens in the state. I'm guessing she won't make this better, but is actually wanting to make it worse.
America really sucks doesn't it?
Who's she running against?
She is challenging the Republican incumbent Kemp in the primary, along with three others (source (https://ballotpedia.org/Georgia_gubernatorial_election,_2022)).

Pfft
I'd steal her three stars and add another nine, to match the thirteen on the one true flag.
I'm not sure what all of them will be but "keep women in the home" will definitely be there.
The three Rs, she doesn't seem to care about them but I do.
Why isn't she at home looking after her babies anyway?
I don't like her provocative whore of Babylon glossy red lipstick either, that's another star already.
How dare she say "I'm The ONE You've Been Waiting For!" !!!
Jesus is the ONE I've been waiting for! Death to blasphemers! ha, another star, this is easy.
Why is she using a woosey bus and not a monster truck?
Bigger roads for bigger personal vehickles, that's what I'm about.

What was the dream, every one can succeed if they work hard?
Is the nightmare a lifetime of full time work earns you squalid poverty?
Its probably always been a nightmare for many, I blame the marketing department.

Mona Lisa was spotted on a subway!!
According to the QAnon folks she did not die over 500 years ago, but is in fact alive, and is headed to Daily Plaza to assist John F Kennedy JR. as they reinstate Trump as President!!
She's been waiting a heck of a long time for this...sadly they say she's also a flat-earther, and anti-vaxxer. :'(
I was thinking about life, existence, meaning etc. Why are we here, why am I here kind of stuff once. I was staring myself down in the bathroom mirror. Staring myself straight in the eye looking for the answer. I saw Jesus gazing back at me. He looked just like me.
That's when I said, "NOPE" and walked away.

Yeah, I know. I was told to never look directly at the sun too.
Gues what I did.
I don't need acid. I've spent enough serious awake-time in the Navy that the fatigue poisons were entirely enough to get me hallucinating.
Nobody needs LSD. Or alcohol or nicotine or chocolate or caffine or heroine or cocain or THC or bread or butter or cow's milk.
There are only a very few things we acutally need.
1. Clean air
2. Clean water
3. Clean food
4. Shelter
5. Health care
Unfortunately all of which require money.
i dunno. i used to need heroin. awful nice stuff. i stay far away these days.

Sadly, it seems to be "pick 3" from that list of 5 for most of the world's population. I have 3 of 5, myself. Clean air and clean water would be good, but I shouldn't bitch too much, as the water and air are only dirty by 1st world standards. My shelter and health care are fine, but now I consider it, my food leaves something to be desired, what with pesticides. Still, I have it way better than most of the people on the planet. No brag, just fact.

I do hope that the Democrats find another presidential candidate in time. This mumbling old fool doesn't have a chance.
It's truly horrifying to see this man standing for POTUS.
I think that there should be a maximum age limit for politicians. People supposed to retire when they are 65-67 years old, so that should also be a decent retirement age for politicians.
I don't understand people's beef with Biden. Yeah, he's old, but he gets shit done: American Rescue Plan, the infrastructure bill, the CHIPS Act (supporting U.S. semiconductor manufacturing), the first gun safety measure in decades, electoral reform to prevent another January 6, ramming through almost as many judicial appointments as trump (but with sane judges this time)--not to mention rebuilding the U.S. reputation internationally. And where's the great alternative candidate? Biden has his problems, but he stepped in to save the U.S. when it was on the brink of collapse from Trump's chaotic mismanagement. The man deserves a medal, not derision.
::)
Here's the actual interview, not just vicious outtakes made to make him look bad.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmekpMxhFmg
Video unavailable.
Of course the video is heavily edited to highlight Biden's senility. Similar creative video editing can be found in videos about Trump to put Trump in a bad daylight. So if it is OK to bash Trump it should also be OK to bash Biden, especially since the mainstream media protects Biden enormously.
biden has accomplished a lot. anne mentionex a few.
hes failed in things too, but on the balance hes done well, imo. he betrayed thr labour unions on the rairoad strike, but everybody betrays unions these days.
the fact that therje is no upcoming generation older than AOC is a pproblem. i dont know where the l eft will be in 10 years.

Well, actually, not. Just look at the video you posted. How can you possibly say Biden gets a free ride, when videos like this exist? Maybe you prefer the chump's inflammatory rhetoric? The guy's a Nazi, all the earmarks are there. Just go and look at his worshipper's iconography, like at the January 6th insurrection. Nazi flags and "Stars and Bars" battle flags from the US' Civil War, which are the "underground" signal to people who are Nazis. Guys like Richard Spencer actually lead meetings where he says, "Heil Trump!" at the end of said meetings. IMO, the chump should already be in prison.
He will skip around you. They all do.
Apparently 68% of all American voters worry about Biden's mental and physical health (https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/first-read/poll-68-voters-worries-bidens-mental-physical-health-rcna91343).

I do not agree that Biden is incompetent. He is old and tired and has less appeal than a younger person may have. He is sill better than the the opposition. That said, I would prefer that he not run for president in 2024.
In a perfect world we would select a candidate who is extraordinarily intelligent, even tempered, displays rational judgements, has enormous debating skills, and is less than 60 years old. My candidate who satisfies those features is Pete Buttegeig. No way in hell he could be elected because he is openly gay. Too many of my fellow voters are seriously narrow minded about such stuff. Also,my countries voters would be intimidated by a candidate who has a clearly superior intellect.
Another possibility is Representative Jamie Raskin. He is not as sophisticated as Buttegeig but he is a shrewd, articulate, and mostly sensible politician.
My preferred political party may be doomed to failure I fear. To hell with it all. I would move to Finland except that this tropical guy is not happy in wicked cold weather. Besides the Finns might not let me in.
I kinda like Pete Buttegieg. Don't always agree with him, but at least he isn't a radical libtard.

Finland is a nice country for the right kind of person, but there are far easier Romes to do as the Romans do while in them. Some, like Sweden, wouldn't even
expect you to do as them Swedes. Well, they would, but they are... Used to disappointment, to put it thusly.

A dialogue box will appear and you will see 'Copy image location' as a selection, click on this option. You now have a copy of the actual image location in the copy buffer. Go to the post on HAF you want the image to appear in. Click on where you want the image to appear. Then click on the HAF button 'Insert an image', it's to the right of the Youtube button. A dialogue box will appear. There are three boxes in this. The top one says
URL. Place your cursor in that box and paste the contents of your copy buffer into it by pressing ctrl+c at the same time. Then click on the
Insert button at the bottom of the dialogue box. The dialogue box should disappear and a line of code will appear where you want the image to appear on your post. When you save your post the image itself should appear as below.

It's roughly from the same family as "your momma so fat" jokes. If anything, "we" are supposed to roll our eyes in its general direction while taking a mental note of the grain of truth beneath all that blubber.
