i spent time in a hospital as a teenager in malaysia with dengue fever. bad stuff. tney had me in the malaria ward. lost 20 pounds, couldnt climb stairs.
i got it after a few dsys camping with two friends in the orang asli preserve in the jungle. wonderful time, but came back sick.
interestingly, it looks like the old sci fi solution of introducing modified organisms is having an effect, at least where it has been tried
That's a bit of good news.
Just hope the law of unintended consequences doesn't kick in. Modified mosquitoes - who knows what that leads to? But, here's hoping.
That's how you get Godzillas.
I resent mosquitoes repeatedly making me party of their reproductive cycle without consent.
I suffered a mass attack on a hike a year or more ago, I could dismiss itches but was I going to seriously debilitated in six weeks?
I pondered recently how come there is no malaria in civilised places like Europe, Aus, US maybe, there used to be.
It seemed weird, mosies are hard to be rid of, I'm not convinced by talk of drainage.
There was an equation that had humans in it, ah, so if no humans have it mosies can't spread it?
QuoteMalaria Parasites. Malaria parasites are micro-organisms that belong to the genus Plasmodium. There are more than 100 species of Plasmodium, which can infect many animal species such as reptiles, birds, and various mammals.
I know nothing, nothing but Chikungunya sounds awful.
