Blah, Blah, YouTube, Blah ...

Hope you enjoyed them.

Nope, never looked ... try posting these so-called "answers" yourself instead of doing what appears to be no more than a troll.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, hated the park.

Please... YouTube videos are not an argument.  They are a distraction.  They might be entertainment.  They are certainly a menace when posted en masse like that as proof and evidence.

Besides, most of us atheists have read and studied your proof probably more than you have.  That's why we're atheists.

He's gone, isn't he?

I don't have the bandwidth to view youtube videos, unfortunately. I guess I'm doomed.  :(

Wow, is it the holidays that brings these trolls out from under their holy bridge? As I've told Curio, I'm a bit new to the concept of trolling, so I'm wondering why there seems to be so many as of late.

I guess they think to themselves...."oh ya, it's Christmas.  Crap, I haven't done anything good this year.  I hope santa isn't mad.      I know....I'll go plaster a whole bunch of junky arguments on atheist forums.  Ya, that's the ticket.  The baby jesus just loves it when I annoy people."

Oh come now, I don't think they're bad people for it. They are sincere about their beliefs so I find it flattery that they would care enough to try and ensure that I'll live my life to the fullest or save me from hell when it is done in a respectful manner such as this.

Many christians, at least the evangelically minded, and fundies, seem to think that atheists are completely unschooled in the bible or religion. They think we've simply never heard "the good news of jesus christ". Or that we've had a bad life experience of some kind, got mad at god, and rejected him. They see us as their figurative "prodigal sons (and daughters)", or as their lost sheep. Most of them mean well, but they sure as hell can act very condescending about it. Been there, done that. I remember thinking, as a former evangelically minded christian myself, that these poor atheists just don't know about god, but if I only take the time to teach them, then all will be well.

Yeah, I admit it. It was the way I thought, to be very honest. I'm sure many people found me irritating and condescending (hmmm....maybe not much has changed over the years -  :D

Quote from: "McQ"Oh well. I can live with irritating and condescending. Just not as a fundie.  :D

I guess I can too, although I did find it a bit condescending as well.

On a side note, and I know I shouldn't pick this fight with an Admin, but an Eagle's fan? Damnit. Just kidding, but I'm sure from my location you can tell who I'm rooting for...GO 'BOYS!

Proving His existance with maths: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPjefJBeaUA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPjefJBeaUA)
777 is the number of the Judeo Christian God. As is 7. And 12. And 9. And 49. And 245. And 42. I would imagine that there are other coincidences one could find involving simple numbers from the Bible. Unfortunately, these  aren't evidence for anything. The tune is catchy, though.

Is the atheist you? Can you describe your atheism before seeing clouds that resemble a person?
Quote from: "8imon"Secrets of contacting God: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4TX8sudLEg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4TX8sudLEg)
I prayed for Jesus to heal my friend who had his leg blown off by an IED in Iraq (truly). Is God really willing to punish my friend because he doesn't believe I'm praying "for real"?
Quote from: "8imon"God can still bless people: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCjHjQEU0Xw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCjHjQEU0Xw)
Can you demonstrate that it's God blessing her and not anything else?
Quote from: "8imon"Why evolution is false: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bDMfLIrYvg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bDMfLIrYvg)
There are mountains of evidence for evolution. Fossil records are really just the beginning, but they're a great place to start. Yes, mutations are common enough to explain gradual changes over millions of years. This is what scientists understand through evidence. No scientist believes that evolution occurs over a short period of time. Claiming that the entire scientific community is "drunk" is inappropriate. Charles Darwin was baptized as a child.

That's clearly the face of Apollo in the couch. And the face at the bottom of the door is absolutely John Lennon. Imagine that.

I don't know what to think about this list of videos. each of them is a bit of fun but fails to achieve anything, at leats for me and the others here who watched them. Non having bandwidth saved someone from them though.

I wonder if what we have here is a sort of brainwashing that makes Christians go out to bring more people into the church - and more people means more money and more money means more power for the minster or the church organization. I can't see many other reasons why churches and more importantly their members, should be out trying to convert us atheists and free-thinkers. We all have experience the JWs and Mormons door knocking and this is somewhat similar I think. It also have this in common - the person bringing the message is not usually the best one to defend it - try arguing on te doorstep with JWs!

Still, at a time of 'peace to all men' (actually that is a mistranslation) we perhaps ought not to be too hard on the poster but he really ought to try to answer the point made by Willravel about his friend who lost a leg in Iraq. Surely god is on test with this one.

I know exactly what you mean. I used to find myself thinking "if only these atheists would open themselves up to the love of Christ, all their doubts would be alleviated."

Ha!

How naive was I. And this was when I was a teenager. It seems so juvenile in retrospect (indoctrination is a biatch) - it's unfortunate that adults still have the same juvenile understanding of their own religion.

Ok, so this was obviously a hit-n-run troll, but there is an interesting point in the follow-up posts...

Why do "they" want to convert "us"?

The cynic might think money, power, or conformity are good answers, but is that truly representative of the majority of religious poeple?

This is the perfect time for JoeActor's "Train Analogy"!

Imagine you are walking near some railroad tracks, and see a small child playing on them, and (of course) a train is coming down the tracks.  The child doesn't seem aware of the danger, so you react by rushing over and snatching them from the jaws of almost certain peril!

For some, this is how they view non-believers.  We are children - oblivious to the peril that our very souls are doomed to undergo.  It is imperitive that they at least attempt to save us (from damnation, ignorance, the train, etc).

Conversely, many non-believers view believers as children.  Ones who have not grown enough to see the obvious flaws in their fairy-tale beliefs, so are doomed to waste the only life they have.

Maybe we're all just blind men describing an elephant,
JoeActor

Can't I have just a little bit of peril?

(That reminds me... time for a thought-experiment post.)
