Title: Snap Caps
Post by: Big Mac on July 13, 2006, 04:48:42 PM
This question goes out to any other gun owners. I have a Nagant M1895 that I wanna practice with and I was thinking about getting snap caps for it. I know that .32 S&W Long will fit and safely fire it so naturally I assumed buying the same kind of Snap Caps. However, I'm trying to find out people's opinion on the various kinds out there. Some are metal and some are plastic and such. Any suggestions?

It's a dummy round that you use to practice while dry-firing your weapon. It's like a punching bag for you gun hammer and firing pin. Like if you swing in the air and are not transferring the energy your outputting into a bag or other kind of device, you're damaging your joints. The same with guns. Dry-firing is very bad, even for the guns that claim they are not affected by dry-firing. Snap caps help you remove the flinching that comes with guns and can help you practice steadying your weapon.

Big Mac, here are two sources for you:

http://www.thefiringline.com/ (http://www.thefiringline.com/)

http://www.thehighroad.org/ (http://www.thehighroad.org/)

My husband said you might have some trouble finding what you need commercially, but someone on the the gun boards might be able to help you.  Good luck finding what you need.

Thank you very much. I registered at the first one and I'm in heaven. Nothing but Guns, Ammo, Knives, etc.

Happy to help.

Let me know if you are interested in the Phoenix police academy.  I've got a link for that, too.

Really? Well that'd be cool but I live in Texas. Though it wouldn't hurt, so why not lay it on me.

I've lived in several states, and Arizona is my favorite.  You might like it, too.  Warm and dry in the desert, snow in the mountains, the beautiful Grand Canyon...and best of all, we're an open carry state.

Really? Well hell, that sound interesting....I do like the Desert, though I need to adapt to it. I've grown up in a humid coastal area so El Paso tends to kick my ass.
