Title: ...a refreshing change
Post by: Jats on September 14, 2010, 06:14:26 PM
"...well I am so glad to have stumbled upon this, being somewhat of an Atheist evangelist in my travels on forum land, and I look forward to exchanging enlightened views for a change then, along with my usual 'Random Stuff' where you will get used to this odd writing style, perhaps, so greetings to you all then, friend and foe..." "...thanks all..." says Jats sincerely and blearily on his second cuppa now "...I did warn you about the writing style, you will get used to it, or not, I just find it useful to avoid being banned on many a site as most mods haven't got a clue or the attention span to figure out what you are getting at, particularly those god fearing or family type sites, and if I am banned just because of it, usually at so called writers sites which are usually just full of critics, then I care not, for there are as many forums on the Internet as there are stars in the night sky..." and for some reason Jats can not get this image out of his head now at the mention of her

Jats pauses to scratch his balls before padding to the kitchen deciding on that glass of red after all now "...see I can never understand the objection to it myself other than from the semi illiterate who are not what I am looking for, other than general amusement, so cheers then..." Jats raises his glass "...I have been admiring your work..."

Jats chuckles "...yes I was contemplating editing that, then thought better of it, for other than mere typos everything can be bait to show self, selective quoting being the most common one..." the platitudes are over then thinks Jats, some well meant for sure, though I have had far far worse welcomes, lets get on with it then "... see you in Random Stuff, or elsewhere then..."
Title: Re: ...a refreshing change

Probably elsewhere.  I have enough random stuff on the other three sites I visit.

"...no, and neither am I playing 'the last person to post here wins' too neither that's someone else entirely, and I could ask why are you still here then after clearly stating your indifference..." Jats stops for a piss for some reason "...that's better, getting rid of the toxins, and see this is why the theists will never be defeated as like them the ists are guilty too of fighting amongst themselves as to who's the best, the traits of man shining through from his evolutionary past, whereas if you practice the art of fighting without fighting there is nothing for them to latch on to..." enough then thinks the chameleon "...so to any more genuine welcomes here, I thank you, there will be plenty of posts for you, and one or two for the likes of poop too who will brag that they never read them, despite the views, good then, argument over, see, its easy..." and here it comes then, Jats smiles pre-empting that last word itching away inside of him for all to see, the ritual display, despite all that previous holier than thou philosophising as the nature of the beast shines through

I click unread posts, then decide if I'm interested.  You said something that was hard to decipher and could ahve been a question of where else I post.

Quoteand one or two for the likes of poop too who will brag that they never read them,
Were you implying that I don't read stuff before responding to it?  Well I suppose I don't, it's not like I read this.

Congratulations, you predicted that I would continue a dialog.  You must be a psychic.  Selective quotes, by the way, save space.  Perhaps if you were concise instead of cryptic, there might be reason to quote your whole post.  Of course, that would mean I couldn't specify which portion to which I was referring.  Then again, intelligent people will figure that out and look to fill the gaps by checing the post being quoted.  For a half-illiterate, I sure do a lot of reading.  I'm pretty good at common sense, too.

Quotewith contradictions t'boot,
Such as?

QuoteI leave you to it this time poop to make more posts here that over time will be elsewhere too no doubt, for others to see your self shining through..."
And what exactly are you implying with this?  Other than your blatant inaccurate statement that I copypaste all my posts, of course.  What self are you implying I will be shining through?

Personally, I find the third person shit tiresome and pretentious.  I'll interact with you when I can see that your posts are not an act.  Until then, au revoir.  After all, masturbation is supposed to be a solo exercise.

Yeah, I personally really dislike the whole third person act - it always seems like a cry for attention - as well as the over use of ellipsis.  I would have kept this information to myself, but the semi-illiterate comment seems like an invitation for criticism.

"...criticise away, though try criticising what I say rather than how I say it then the critique will have more credence for I never stated that anyone here was semi illiterate, some just took it that way with the help of selective quoting which is most often used on forum land by trolls and serial arguers, on the contrary I have been immensely impressed with a lot of the debates I have seen here and have already said so, though less impressed with this, as you follow the clarion call now of two new amongst you, one already being warned for his antagonistic behaviour I see..." Jats pauses to check the way the wind is blowing outside and tightens a few knots on his tarp "...not that it is unfamiliar, yet the mob are often the last to recognise their own behaviour..."

I find Jat's style interesting, impenetrable and amusing. It's different. If I were in a pub and somebody started talking that way I would just consider them odd, in a idiosyncratic sort of way. I see no reason to get upset at a way a person presents their thought, except if it makes them difficult to understand. I find it quite difficult to follow The Magic Pudding's posts but it's his style and different, which is good. We need characters! Eccentricity often gives a different view to consider. I value difference, to me it shows independence. Differences are what make us who we are, what makes us all unique.

MP is cool.  Eccentric is fine.  MP doesn't make me wade through a pile of horsehockey to get to his point, and I appreciate that consideration the Puddinghead shows for his readers: pithy, acerbic, entertaining, and mostly spot-on.

A far cry from swimming through molasses.  Qouth the Bard:  "Brevity is the soul of wit."  To which I'd add, if I may, "clarity."

If Jats style is personally annoying, and I can see it would be, then why waste the effort to read his posts? I scan them, but I don't engage because I can't be arsed to figure out the detail, life's to short. So it's fair to point out that a style makes engagement difficult but putting a personal element of dislike? Not so sure that's particularly relevant, but that's just me and of course it's perfectly acceptable to criticise other peoples posting styles

Aw shucks, I'm not entirely annoying, that's really moving.  :)

This is from the Alice in Wonderland movie:
Alice:  Do you think I’ve gone round the bend?
Father:  I’m afraid so.
You’re mad, bonkers, off your head.
But I’ll tell you a secret.
             All the best people are.

I don't have a problem with Jats, though he is a lecherous lizard.

I've never seen anyone post in the third person on a forum before. I find it difficult to read. My attention span isn't great so I tend to drift off when trying to read something tiresome.

For the record, I very much enjoy the posts of Thumpalumpacus, Tank and The Magic Pudding.

Isn't sycophantism great? :D

Oh and Jats, I unapologetically like emoticons.

Which is what I do when I'm bored.  Otherwise his posts go to the bottom of the to-do list.

QuoteSo it's fair to point out that a style makes engagement difficult but putting a personal element of dislike?

I have a deep dislike of pretension, and don't bother to hide it.  I do not like or dislike him; I don't know him.

No problem.  I'm sure my posting style arouses irritation in others, but hey, c'est la vie.

Also, what's a "NOMAD" moment?
Title: Re: ...a refreshing change

NOMAD was a robotic probe in a Star Trek episode. Spock disables it with an unsolvable logic problem and while it's going around in mental circles Kirk beams it out into space where it explodes. So a NOMAD moment is when one if stuck in a logic loop  :D
