Music you listened to when you were 13 that you've sought out on Youtube and is surely symptomatic of encroaching dementia.
Didn't get into rock until later in life. Classical, jazz, and flamenco when I were a sprout.
I blame these songs on my older brother

Hmm, must be geoblocked in the UK. It plays OK in the US. Maybe the "official" version will work in the UK.
Both versions play perfectly well in Aus...

This thread has brought back memories of one of the roots of my love of classical music. I was exactly 13 when I heard Bobby Darin sing Mack the Knife on the radio.
My mother, cultured lady that she was, told me that it was an adaptation of the original Mackie Messer song composed by Kurt Weill for his Dreigroschenoper. At one of the local record stores they had an LP of the opera with Lotte Lenya singing it.
That was one of the things that set me off exploring the connections in music. I am so grateful that I learned at an early age that art is a succession of influences that are fun to explore.
A childhood favorite, and still. :)

It's a shame Kevin Spacey turned out to be a bit of monster, Beyond The Sea (movie) was good I thought.
When you get your time machine sorted and are going back to see Lotte perform, can I hitch a ride?

Of course, my time machine can accommodate many passengers. I'm pretty sure you know that you can also see her brilliantly playing Rosa Klebb with the useful shoe in From Russia with Love.
I'm pretty sure I was 14 rather than 13, but this is the first such song that comes to mind;
super star Asian woman plays one of my old favorites.

This category is pretty much all I ever post over in "What are you listening to?"
Hmmm.
lol

I still enjoy swing. Like any music
that relies heavily on brass, it's best live.
i was 15 before this mattered, but then it mattered a lot

That dates you Rec.
Glenn Miller may very well still be in the English Channel since about 1944. I cut my musical teeth on the likes of Miller, Goodman, Krupa, and the rest of that kind of music.
There are a number of You Tube bits that feature Japanese High School kids doing swing as well as any of the old timers.
And there was Benny Goodman, who I associate with that era as well.
Summer Day Reflection, an evocative song by Donovan that could inspire some impressionistic paintings.
Cat is sleeping in the sun
Eyes take heed the colours call
Sunlight patterns touch the wall
Red kerchiefs sail and fall
Cat is sleeping in the sun
Dragon kite in the sky
Wheel and turns, spin and fly
Attacked by rooks who never fail
To cry the sound of fairy tales
The cat is walkin' in the sun
All the pebbles I have seen
Precious stones for Colleen
Every minute I pass through
Would be groovy spent with you
The cat is yawning in the sun
Jewelled castles I have built
With freak feelings of guilt
And the words stab to the hilt
Pick the flower and it will wilt
Cat is shifting in the sun
Marionette dangles death
Insensitivity is fed
By the TV wizard's wand
Whilst in the spell you're conned
Cat is smiling in the sun
Cat is smiling in the sun
Eyes take heed the colours call
Sunlight patterns touch the wall
Red kerchiefs sail and fall
Cat is smiling into me
Donovan' song brought to mind
In a Summer Garden by Frederick Delius.
