This is a photo I like, saw it on Imgur

QuoteI've made this high-res mosaic using a Maksutov 150/1800 from my balcony. I've extracted 30,000 snapshots from videos, and selected, aligned and stacked 3% of the best quality frames. All my work is on Instagram : www.instagram.com/astronophilos  Check it out!

Composite: Stars have been taken on another part of the sky and added in processing. The dark part comes from a full Moon I have added in processing too.

Take my advice, don't listen to me.

well i learned something. i was trying to figurebout whether the shadow he added was on the correct part of the moon

because no first or second quarter of the moon visible from the earth will have a shadow on the bottom if you take the photograph standing up

and i discovered that the face of the moon turned towards the earth  is only approximately the same during its 28 dsy cycle. from the images of full moons on the net it looks like the face of the moon visible to the earth varies by as much as 30 degrees.

maybe these are crummy pictures but i always that the tidal forces kept the speed wobble in the moons rotation closer to something like 10 degrees. unless im misreading landmarks on the moon that appafently isnt so

From wiki-
"The lunar libration in longitude was discovered by Johannes Hevelius in 1648. It can reach 7°54′ in amplitude. Libration in latitude results from a slight inclination (about 6.7°) between the Moon's axis of rotation and the normal to the plane of its orbit around Earth."

well now ive learned three things. one i was wrong to see 30 degrees and so i will have to go back and see why. two i always thought the rotational axes were parallel and tge wobble was tidal.

and three libration a new word which does not have anything to do with filming porno movies in the library

I took my car in for a service this morning and was very pleased to see that Mercedes-Benz are supporting the gay community by sponsoring vehicles for the Johannesburg Gay Pride month.

While waiting for my ride home, I was offered a restaurant quality cappuccino in their customer service area coffee bar.

Overall a good morning so far.
