Do celebrities really believe in god or just lying making themselves cool and higher than simple people ?

well,i thought that religion is a tool used by ruling class to hypnotize&brainwash lower classes ,so that prevents them from a non-stop revolution against unfair life&exploitation.
also i think that non of successful politicians, celebrities,millionaires and so on DO ACTUALLY BELIEVE IN GOD b/c that impossible to make a big movement(be not like others) with a religion(society) control:P
But now i got to know that a lot of celebrities claim to have a weird religions,and i was like WHY ??

it's when you're not self confident enough to convince yourself dat there is no god and your statements against god are weak,so when you hear someone says like "ooo,u know man,god really helped me" or hear any other bullshit somewhere.After this you get to the weird condition .all the times you think whether the god exists or not and that ruins your life,you can't do a job,can't study,fail to communicate with people and so on :P you become explaining things as something supernatural and allays fail to do anything=become loser !!
PS maybe that only touches left-handed people,i dunno ^^ :'(

I thought Justin Beiber was 16? Anyway, religious people are lemmings anyway. I can sadly see someone converting to whatever religion to be like a celebirty.
My only real wish is that logic over throws religion in the near future. Maybe then we can evolve as a society, and stop living day to day by a man made out-dated fairytale book.

Well for starters I think you read a bit, check out other threads on this forum that address reason why we don't believe in gods and see for yourself whether you think they make sense or are convincing.
If other people are saying that god helped them, the burden is on them to prove it, you don't have to feel bad or insecure because you can't prove that they're wrong. You could ask them how they really know for sure that it was a god or if it was just coincidence, for instance.
Do you really believe that no gods exist or do you just keep telling yourself that because you don't like religious belief systems?
What was your deconversion like? What did you believe before that?
(P.S. left handed people were believed to be of the devil some time back ;) )

If religion is a system, is it possible that other systems that don't have gods in them couldn't possibly account for some things that religions claim exclusiveness for?

i'll be serious now. until i was 16 i was a Christian,i grow up in really really religious surroundings,every week my aunt was taking me to church,i was listening to wonderful stories from old+poor people who had something bad in their lives before.and i was really religious,i couldn't live normally,if i talked with someone i was praying to god to let me be cool in someones eyes,protect me from bullies at school and so on...:PP
i think i had an overreaction from religion,may be because im left handed(so my right brain dominates .. witch responses for an imagination)

Athiests aren't athiests because they think it's cool or for any social reasons. We're atheists because we don't believe in god(s).

Not all celebrities are religious, not all celebrities believe in a god, not all celebrities that do believe in some theist organisation believe in the same one. They are completely different people not some hive minded organism.
Last time I checked it wasn't a negative to be an atheist in entertainment, there are some big names that are associated with atheism such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Jack Nicholson, Larry King, Angelina Jolie, Woody Allen, James Cameron, Jodie Foster, Keanu Reeves, Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Ricky Gervais. Im gonna stop there as there are flipping loads.
What I usually see from religious celebrities is an illusion of grandeur far beyond there talents with a complete lack of humility.

Programming/brainwashing can be tough to get over, and I still think you should look up some of the atheistic arguments supporting why they don't believe in god, or just ask around. You might find some good answers that help with your mental struggle with your theistic programming.
The questions you asked Stevil for instance make you look like you're still a theist or at least still think like a theist... ??? Which is why I asked.
And just to make a note, you won't find proofs that gods
don't exist because gods are unfalsifiable. What you can seriously question and disprove are the claims that people make about gods. Such as the celebrity issue: is the fact that they became religious due to their success not a plausible one? Some people see those sorts of things that way. And like Crow pointed out there are plenty of famous people who are openly atheist. If one had to be religious to be famous or successful, then wouldn't all celebrities be religious?

It seems from the initial answers you received, the four questions were different from the one that's there now. In my opinion, that's very bad form, and tends to create confusion, but perhaps you didn't know any better.
