You left the door open again Mags, so I wandered back in.

I know what you mean, as I miss Pahu as well...Hey Mags, remember that time we got Pahu a bottle of Peach Scnapps for his birthday, and after drinking almost all of it with some Arnold Palmer Iced Tea he called your dog to come sit on his lap?

A while later your dog got up and jumped off his lap, and then Pahu started crying because, "The dog didn't love him anymore. "

Then, about a half hour later one weirdly long strand of his hair got pulled out of his head while he was running his fingers through his hair, and he cried even more because he thought he was going bald?

You told him not to worry cuz' even if he was going bald, at least he still had his faith. LOL

That was a funny night...what was the name of your dog Mags, was it Maricruz?

My conservative government finds itself short of ins, it's going to lower tax for small companies and >$80,000 income individuals
Wouldn't that make them shorter of ins?
No you idiot, you just don't get it.

There's a good story in Nature about the change in government policy toward scientists now that the irredeemable ass Harper is out.

He is quite the gentlemen though, fighting that damnable political correctness.

QuoteAccording to a transcript of the video published by the Rappler news website, Mr Duterte told the rally that he saw Ms Hamill's body brought out of the jail.

"I looked at her face – son of a bitch – what a waste. What came to mind was, they raped her, they lined up," he said.

"I was angry because she was raped, that's one thing ... but she was so beautiful, the mayor should have been first. What a waste."

John Oliver explains the American primary/caucus process (how the parties choose their presidential candidates) as succinctly as possible.

With a little reality check for Sanders supporters toward the end.

Biden is getting stuff done.  I hope he keeps it up and can turn the pandemic and the economy around.  Of course, he is governing Americans, so that's not in his favor.

The CDU of Angela Merkel got a big beating yesterday in the local elections. The reasons for their big loss were obvious. People are extremely angry, because the CDU handles the Covid-19 pandemic very poorly.  Also, several CPU politicians enriched themselves during the pandemic, by taking money from masks suppliers. So, the the letter "C" no longer stands for "Christian" but for "Corruption". Good news was, that the AfD populist party also lost a lot of votes. I'm not a big fan of that party either, because their leaders are very creepy ultra right wing people. The big winner of the election was the Green party.

his big problem is one that he' s ignoring, which is that while he is in power now with a democrat house and senate, the republicans are playing the long game and are working hard to suppress democrrat voting in the next election, and to gerrymanders the districts for beyond that. . they can't win elections on an even footing, so they're doing everything they can to steal them.

if the republicans win one more seat in the senate, his further progress will be stalled.

The senate is 50/50, there is no Dem control there. And yes, the Republicans are just doing the dirt instead of working for the US.

Marjorie Taylor Greene has herself a challenger.  I hope he's macho enough and vet enough to pull in whatever rational votes remain on the Right.  We'll need those since the Progressive Left is already bitching that he's a moderate.

It seems like a lot of people listen to the loud mouth on the microphone and just follow without checking other sources for information, especially reliable ones.

Are there any reliable sources left? I really have problems finding news outlets that are objective and brings me facts instead of opinions.

Now that you mention it and I subsequently think about it I don't know if there is. I'd like to say NPR but it's been a while since I've listened to it. All the others seem to care about what is sensational for the time.

CNN-- left wing bias, honest

Fox- right wing bias, lies

AP-- left-centrist

Reuters & UPI-- centrist

got to look at everything and generate an average, really

That's true Billy. I don't read the news much now. I only did during the election and the aftermath. Afterward there's just not much that interests me in the outside world since my world is mostly my room.

I think the best thing to do is what my wife's therapist does. She was getting totally depressed from news on (social) media. Her solution, she stopped completely with Facebook and watching news on TV and reading newspapers. Her husband acts like a news filter instead. Every evening she asks him whether there is some worthwhile news, that she'd need to know about. If that is the case, she'll inform herself.

Biden does have an immigration problem. He will need to devote a lot of attention to this in the coming months.  Just telling migrants from Central America to "stay home" is not going to work.  I did not want a wall, I did not want kids separated from parents and kept in cages, and I do want a rational policy to deal with petitions to enter.  But Biden has to show he can secure the border and allow an orderly process of immigration to take place. I don't want a lock-down but I don't want a flood, either.  I hope he can get a handle on it.

aha

here's the answer to news, straight off th einternet.

i would put CNN and america's national public radio a notch to the left, personally.  and i would downgrade fox news as more sensatioal, because of it's tabloid tone.

I'm curious as to how he's going to handle all that. It seems like a superhuman feat.
