I'm helping an undergrad out with some stuff. It took the entire day at the lab yesterday and we're still not finished. The worst thing isn't going to the lab during the weekend, but the fact that Monday starts soon after and I don't get a break. 

Next Saturday it's going to be an all-dayer again.

Thomas Cook Germany's life is hanging on a thread. Before the end of this month we'll know whether the company continues its businesses or not. Chances that Thomas Cook will continue are pretty low. There are some talks with investors, most likely they are not interested in taking over all of our 2,000 employees. If Thomas Cook wants to survive they probably have to fire at least 50-75% of all the people. Even then, it is not likely that they'd survive the next years to come, unless they would come up with a brillant strategy. 

Currently we are in a kind of limbo. No real work is being done and everyone fears for his/her job. In my mind, I've already said goodbye to Thomas Cook. I've applied for several job in the region. Most likely a lot of companies will find me too old, but that doesn't stop me from applying. Going through this whole process of job searching again is however a weird Deja Vu experience.

That might indeed be an option. Currently there are four companies interested in me, so I have high hopes that at least one of them would offer me a very decently paid job.

This coming Wednesday I have to report to the Hospital for some out patient surgery.........I hope to hell that it will be outpatient surgery.  I have a squamish cell carcenoma on my lower left eye lid.  (how does one  correctly spell those two mysterious words ?)  It has to be removed by an ophthalmic surgeon who will remove a chunk of my eye lid to get rid of the growth.  The process involves anasthesia which Is  not a most pleasant anticipation. 

Then there is the considerable expense that will be involved. I do have some health care insurance but the Co-pays will likely be more than my meager budget can endure. Anasthesiologists are among the highest paid practitioners in the health care business. The Opthamologist specialist will not be cheap either.  Shit happens!   There goes part of my heirs inheritance.

My GP removed one of those from my forehead a month ago. She did it in her consulting room. The local anaesthetic she swabbed on worked very rapidly, and I didn't feel a thing when she was cutting. She put in a few dissolving stitches that left no scar at all, so luckily my beauty has not been compromised. We decided to cut it out after the liquid nitrogen cryo treatment she usually uses on these sun spots was not working fast enough.
