There were a few incidents the last two major elections in my city in "certain neighborhoods" and where I voted. Nothing violent happened, but it's not comforting having a guy yelling like a toddler at you to not vote for that illegal alien.

And it feels likely that in this climate, it will be worse this time.

I think that this whole, "the election is rigged" shit is dangerous. Of course, rational people will likely dismiss it, but since guns are in the hands of many people who have an IQ far below average, it's not exactly a comforting thought to imagine voting day having more than a few dangerous issues when the Republican front runner is spouting this bullshit. And he's not the first to say it, all that voting fraud (actually almost zero), that the republicans have been saying is the purpose for new voter laws, is part of this.

I was thinking after the election
Your well armed repugnant people
I'm sure they'll take the loss OK

politics was a gentleman's game
then there was the black moslem
I thought there couldn't be worse
but now a woman will be telling us
Wasn't a fair fight I knew it wasn't
Our orange clown he pointed it out
But there'll be time to put it to right
Take my advice, don't listen to me.

I've been trying to take an intelligent interest in the Murrikin election, but DT has defeated me. He makes my flesh crawl.

He makes the flesh crawl for a lot of us Essie.  The most disturbing part is that so many of our eligible voters are enamored of the psychopathic crack pot.   It is not completely out of the question that DT could become the president elect. It is a long shot but not an impossibility.

Newsweek takes a look at the Magnificent Cheeto's career in business: "A People's History of Donald Trump's Business Busts and Countless Victims"

Quote. . . Trump sold stock in his newly formed Trump Hotel and Casino Resorts, which owned all three of his Atlantic City casinos and another casino he had started in Indiana. He insisted the stock trade under the ticker DJT—his initials. As chairman of the company, Trump maintained a 41 percent stake, which was worth about $400 million when the stock hit its all-time high of $29.25 a share—less than a year after going public.

Under Trump's leadership, however, the company was unprofitable every year, and by the end of his time as chairman, it had lost more than $1 billion. By 2004, the stock was selling for 65 cents a share, and the company fell into bankruptcy; people who had put their faith in the Trump name lost more than 90 percent of their investment. During the same time, those who owned funds based on the Standard & Poor's 500 index more than doubled their money. Even in the greatest stock market ever, and in a business regularly described as a license to print money, Trump left only wreckage in his wake. And investors in Trump hotels saw nothing but losses.

On the other hand, Trump did just fine for himself. Even as his company's stock price was collapsing and annual losses were piling up, filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission show that during his years as chairman, more than $60 million poured from the public company into Trump's pockets.

This is the dirty secret behind Trump's allegedly miraculous financial recovery. What he told the public was a fable: that he had fought his way back with perseverance and skill. In truth, he did it by snatching huge fistfuls of cash from a company that was wiping out the savings of millions of people.

[. . .]

Building after building, failure after failure, hundreds of millions of dollars lost. Each time, the buyers sued, saying they had been tricked into believing that Trump was the developer. And each time, Trump pointed to the fine print of the contracts, told the courts the buyers should have read them more carefully, and walked away. Potentially hundreds of people lost tens of millions of dollars while Trump pocketed huge sums through his licensing fees.

Trump's career has been much of the same kind of scam. He demands applause and annihilates those who refuse to give it. He preens about successes he obtained only by destroying the wealth, careers and reputations of other people. He takes credit for the victories of others and denies any blame for his many failures. In his impulsive pursuit of self-aggrandizement, his victims are legion.

And now he vows to do to America what he did to them.

He will not win.  He may start a new TV show or news network, though, to give him a forum for spouting his BS.  If 40% of the populace continues to support him, he'll make a bunch of money and give Rush Limbaugh some competition.

It is unlikely that the Donald will win the election...not impossible but unlikely. The most fervent Trump boosters are promising that there will be palace revolts, pitch forks and all, if their guy loses. Those people are serious. That is scary.  In last nights debate, DT refused to say that he would concede if he loses. The election is "rigged" as every Trumpster  knows. The aftermath of a Trump loss could get to be a problem that could be considerably more serious than mere sour grapes.

I am concerned that if Clinton wins, which seems most likely, there will be backlash in the hyper right wing of congress and elsewhere that can render our government even less effective than it has been in the last eight, ill advised, "hate Obama's guts" years.

We need better news reporters, the kind that know their subjects and can present it in a better way focusing on the important things. Because most of us do not have time to spend hours a day digging through shit to find out what our representatives are doing. Then maybe people will vote better.

All my internet friends keep leaning Trump and the media is in control and Donald is the sanest of the two. How did people from their 20s - 30s end up like this?

If the people in their 20s and 30s are claiming that the Donald is the saner of the two, they need to stop smoking cheap weed.  The case against Trump is just about everything about him.  He knows nothing about government or critical issues although he foolishly claims that he does and he has apparently not tried to learn. He keeps making dumb statements such as his capacity to repeal Common Core. That is a state issue not a federal one.  He knows more about ISIS than the generals do, He has trouble finishing a sentence, he is crude and lewd, He has a history of poor judgements and uncaring acts. He has the intemperate qualities of a man who never grew up except sexually. His only qualification is that he is not Hillary.

Not to say that I am a Hillary fan. She has some serious baggage too. But she is wondrously intelligent, immensely well informed and as experienced as one is likely to get.

She did not hang the Ambassador in Benghazi out to dry as accused. Ambassador Stevens  took it on himself to make the four hour drive to Benghazi from Tripoli. The Embassy is in Tripoli, Benghazi is an outpost. There are more than a hundred Embassies and diplomatic offices scattered around the globe. Could we expect any secretary of state to be in touch with all of them and mother hen them at all times?  Hillary did do some dumb shit with the E mails. She has agreed to that.

If we elect her, then it is for sure that she will be thwarted beyond any semblance of rationality by the opposition. Some of the nuttier ones have already planned to impeach her. Stay tuned. The election might be "rigged".
