Ha! Very cool.  :)

They could make a sitcom out of your life called 'The Fucked Trucker!'
Also... :secrets1:   There's a show/ soap opera / telenovela already about  'The Fucked Trucker!'
:snicker:
Dos Mujeres, Un Camino.

Damn. I thought I'd created an original!

fucked again. this is not a n auspicious week.

i was up in iowa last night when the tornadoes came through at both yesterdays destination and todays . cut all the power everywhere. only one truck on its side. then my headlight dimmer switch fell apart and i lost headlights.

no telephonez working and nobody i could contact had a switch. nearest one was 60 miles south. so then the customer cancelled because i couldnt guarentee arrival time and the next customer wasnt at the feed mill because they didnt have power either and went home.

so i wentto the truck stop and managed to put the dimmer switch back together -- with bailing wire, no shit--  and parked for the night. maybe the customer will get power tomorrow or maybe theyll just take a three day weekend.

in the meantime im 900 miles from the house without a loaD home and its 19 degrees F and i aint getting back by tomorrow for sure

Maybe you should embrace Christianity? At least you'd be able to attribute your situation to 'God works in mysterious ways!'. ;)

Shit happens Billy.  In your case, with trucks, it seems to be happening with unfair regularity.  Dimmer switch is a bad deal but losing a wheel, like a while ago, and being over the weight load
limit a while ago, is no fair.  I fear that Jesus has it out for you or maybe he does not like trucks.

The worst shit of all is having to endure 19 degrees of dangerous cold when that far from home.

i forgot about losing the wheels

ive done that three times now

but look at this tho. the biggest lathe ive ever seen

this huge thing can turn workpieces that weigh 70 000 pounds, to 0.002-0.003 precision. apparently it turns at 6 to 10 rpm.

i was impressed.

almost as much as the people who were backed up a quarter mile on both sides of the road in down town chicago while i blnd-sided the truck off 47th street into theis shop. which took at least ten minutes.

i want to buy a lathe, but it needs to be small than this one

I have a friend who has one of those monster lathes.  It is 90feet between centers.  He is in the hard chrome business and much of his work is to repair propeller shafts for big ships. Also huge rams for hydraulic cylinders and pistons for those huge ship engines.

And tomorrow is the shortest day of the year. And I mean daylight!  :geezer!:
