Rick Perry should have been on one side of a large, brick wall, and the praying people should have been on the other. A dramatic representation of the very real metaphorical wall of separation between church and state is what these people need. That, or a "caliphate" (to use Glenn Beck speak) to live under so they finally understand why church and state should remain separate.

Texas fires: Bastrop blaze prompts Rick Perry warning

Firefighters in drought-stricken Texas are struggling to contain a 16-mile-wide (26-km) wildfire that has destroyed almost 500 homes.

Officials said the fire had "grown considerably" on Monday and was now burning on 25,000 acres (10,000 ha).

Texas Governor Rick Perry cut short presidential campaigning, and said the next 48 to 72 hours would be "crucial".

Scores of fires are burning across Texas, which has been hit by high winds generated by Tropical Storm Lee...

I don't think that proves anything.  Critics of Obama's stimulus note that "jobs saved" isn't a number that can realistically and reliably be counted.  Supporters of Gov. Perry's prayers for rain and drought relief will take a page from "jobs saved" and say that without the prayers the drought and fires would be worse.

Call it what you will, but it worked! It rained! Not enough to help anything at all, not enough to quell the fires, and certainly not enough to end the massive drought. But, it worked! I know, "why didn't God send enough to make a difference?" He works in mysterious ways. Or maybe he wants a Perry sacrifice. Let's not risk pissing Him off. Let's sacrifice Perry!
