That was just to show that I am still alive. I've been working on some new stuff and it has kept me away from HAF.

A shrike in Nebraska with a quarter of a mouse.

Yeah, this season stimulates the sardonic in me. Come on, Solstice!

when i lived in arizona the butcher birds would impale grasshoppers up on the thorns of the locust trees.

very macabre, but very honest, in a natural way.

no shrikes out here where i am now, as far as i know

What have you been working on?

I've been working on a series of four experiments in the use of fast set concrete as a material to get thick textures in paintings. Nobody else seems to have been mad enough to do that, so I had to develop a viable technique from scratch. Now that I have a working method, the work is progressing faster. While this has been going on, I've also made a set of sculptural concrete bookends as a commission.

I will not hijack this thread, so will be posting in the appropriate HAF art one soon.

cats do not have clavicles.

That also explains their inability to play the clavichord.

I like that monochrome atmospheric look. I assume it is digital, or is it a scanned print?

Straight from my tried and trusted Sony Alpha 6000.

As is this,

I was snooping around an old pagan site last summer and came across this carving on the side of the wall. The site is said to be ancient but the carving is very recent and most likely done by some Glastonbury type.
