Pretty pics. Thanks, billy. Looks like Oklahoma has those gorgeous wide open sky views, just like Texas. I miss Texas on occasion, but not enough to move back : )

well thebrakes were okay. i justlost the  outer wheel bearing and tossed  the rollers.

the stuff i drive isnt new. im in a truck wash in tulsa rigbt now trying to get the oklahoma dust rinsed off my radiator to get the motor temperature down.

right now it runs 200 to 210 degrees on a flat.

99 F isnt helping

My response perhaps wasn't clear. Setting proper bearing clearances after installing the brake drum is part of the work of a brake job. Doing it wrong yields results like seen on that trailer. That can result from the bearings adjusted too tight, or too loose. I suspect that the individual working on brakes, for example, slides the tires and drum as an assembly to replace the shoes. It's faster, and easier on the back. A couple of greased 2 X 4 boards make that job easier. But it also makes it more difficult to get the preload correct on the bearings when reinstalling that heavy assembly. I worked on a fleet of trucks with brakes like that, and didn't have the luxury of using the 2 X 4 "system" very often. They'd drive the truck until the drums were ruined, and then bring the truck in. Then, the wheels have to come off the drum. And it's a real thrill to back the brake shoe adjustment off far enough to get the rivets out of the grooves they scored in the drum, so that the drum could be removed.

the prairies are beautiful, especially the natural parts where the grasses grow four feet tall.

coyotes, porcupines, armadillos, skunks, raccoons, great blue herons, great egrets, scissor tailed flycaychers, meadowlarks(the western kind) plus all the impossible hawks and falcons.

and if uoure away from a pumpjack, its dead silent.

dead. silent.

maybe 20 decibels?

ypu can hear the wind rustling the cottonwood leaves 100 yards away.

and the wind blows all the time.

It's Independence Day here. Tons of fireworks and firecrackers in my neighborhood even though it's not sunset yet. Kids in the alley keep letting off firework after firework, and I'm hoping no one blows off a hand in the process. If past years are a predictor, there should be a cool neighborhood "big fireworks" show after dark.

I'm currently back in my home country for a two week vacation. Yesterday we went to SpaSereen for a sauna, swim and relaxation day. No clothes were allowed inside the spa other than bathrobes. Today my wife and I take it a bit easy, since we both got sunburned. We'll barbecue in the evening and that is just it. Tomorrow we'll make a guided boattrip on the river ,,De Vecht".

Sounds nice. Me, I'm just back from my vacation which was rather an uneventful affair - mostly by design, but also because Flying Deutschmann the Piece of Shit Car was out shopping for shiny new parts for the first week.

My wife and I bought a new car. The "old" Ford B-Max was slowly braking down (gearbox), needed new tyres, engine belt and water pump. Next week we will pick the new car (Mazda CX-30 2.0 Sky Active) up at the car dealer.

Those are nice-looking cars. I like the shape of the body.

Congrats!

I'm getting a 2018-2020 Opel Insignia when I can sell enough stock without loss to buy one loan-free. So in this economy, prolly like... 2032? Sigh.

It appears that someone got access to my internet connection and downloaded a porn movie illegally. I've just received a letter from a lawyer who wants to get 900 € from me. I'd love to know her w that happened because I'm using a firewall and WPA2 security.

I recently saw an app that allows you to see who is accessing your connection, but I can't remember where it was. If I find it again, I will let know.

You don't need an app for that. Your router logs connected clients.

You will not see who it is though. If the app promises you that, it is a scam.

...Or copyright trolls, which largely amounts to the same thing. It's very hard to prove that you did anything illegal even if you did when it comes to such matters. They'd be stupid to sue.
