As I've alluded to in other threads, I agree that the national debt needs cutting.  I simply disagree that it should be done on the backs of the unemployed.

I totally agree with you. I dont think their benefits need to be cut and I think they should be extended. But no one as of yet states that they should cut or not extended the program.

Last June the Republicans threatened a filibuster against an extension-of-benefits bill because it would be financed by borrowing.

That was to force an amendment to the extension bill to change the source of revenue from new borrowing to already present and existing revenue that the government had not spent yet.

On a side note what do you think about the filibuster? I honestly am trying to come to a conclusion on it.
