I thought this blog post by PZ Myers was interesting - a little compilation of theist and alarmist reactions.  http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2010/05/first_round_of_ill-informed_ob.php?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+scienceblogs/pharyngula+(Pharyngula)

Kind of makes me shake my head in wonder - let's learn a little more about what the science behind this is before we go talking about how terrible the scientific community is for allowing this experiment occur.  And the guy who claims this was somehow an atheist motivated plan to play or disprove god - seriously?  Is scientific curiosity now considered an exclusively atheist trait?  I'm not complaining, I'm just surprised that some people seem so willing to consider the two to be 1. connected and 2. bad.   :hmm:

I guess what upsets the in both cases is that in brings up their minds the question, "Why would a god care about us, if this is all we are?" because the answer is, "Precisely". Yet it's somehow our fault, the atheists' fault, that their god is just such a poorly conceived idea.
