Here's an anecdote, if you build a house out of Legos and then take it appart and put the pieces in a box, where did the house go? (think about it before reading on).

The house is not in the box, the house was made of all the bricks together, once you take them apart there is no house, only bricks.

I agree.  Self is a concept that helps us organize sensory information.  It does not exist outside the confines of the body.  No self passes on after death or is reborn to a new life.  The process is what continues.  Here is an old poem about it.

'No doer of the deeds is found,
No one who ever reaps their fruits;
Empty phenomena roll on:
This view alone is right and true.
