It's great reading all the responses.  I want to respond to every post individually, but that makes for a long post.  So instead I'll just say I've read everyone's advisement, and that I've read everyone else's good news.  (I know how broken that sentence is, fix it in your head.

Past couple days have been smooth sailing.  My father even said he guessed evolution made sense as to why he always needs a new flu shot every year.  Partially a parental concession, but I know he gets it, a little at least.  

That's great. Honestly, your parents are taking this amazingly well as are you. I applaud your bravery. I "came-out" a year ago and my dad still hasn't gotten over it. I know how hard it must have been for you. Kudos and stay strong!
