Thinking of doing a road trip across the US

I'm a Brit living in the US. I like cities. The highlights so far for me are New York City (good food and urban decay) and San Francisco (good food and liberal). Vegas is an experience but not a highlight. I ignored the casinos but was rather entertained by the nudity everywhere. I haven't found anything that comes close to London though. I so miss London. Irrelevant to this discussion, but my favorite city to visit is Budapest.
