ClicheGuevara

So ff13, still the same ol tired J-rpg story lines?  I really wanna play it, but I am sick of the stories in J-rpgs.

Actually this one (just like FFXII) is pretty mature, as far as that goes. It's no X-2, that's for sure. I mean, sure, there's a lot of the typical fist-clinching-the-air, "I will save her!" kinda stuff, but that's to be expected. It is a Japanese-made RPG, after all. Lightning is an anti-hero, though, much like a female Cloud.

Quote from: "pinkocommie"I finally moved on to chapter 12 after spending literally 30 hours doing the side missions and grinding at the end of chapter 11.  I anticipate beating the game this week, then immediately starting a new game to get the best weapons, all the hidden goodies, etc.  :D

So, does chapter 12 start when you get to Oerba? If so, I'll stay the hell away for a while, haha.

This isn't REALLY a spoiler, but in case some people don't want to know...

[spoiler:2xx4u8d7]No, chapter 12 starts when you get on a ship after the boss fight in Oerba.  You don't automatically get on the ship after the fight though, so you can go ahead and fight the boss there and do some missions if you want.  It's once you go back to cocoon after fighting super-bad-guy-with-the-owl that you can't go back to Pulse until you've beaten the game.  Some of the Cei'th stones on Pulse are for enemies that are so strong, you'll have to beat the game and then go back to be able to beat them anyway so you'll be able to go back once the main storyline is finished, but while playing the main campaign if you board that plane/ship/whatthefuckever it's no going back until the end.  Though it's looking like the place I'm at now in 12 has some decent grinding potential as well.[/spoiler:2xx4u8d7]

... Not to get off topic for FF, but...

I've got two new games out (that I'm in - haven't played them yet).

Command & Conquer 4 (PC)

and

Fragile (on odd one for the Wii)

If anyone plays them, lemme know how they are.

Fallen Jedii

Quote from: "Fallen Jedii"Purchased Heavy Rain two hours ago. God the beginning is depressing.
Isn't it though? Quantic Dream really pulled it off in making Heavy Rain an interactive drama rather than a "game".

It really is tremendous. I beat it yesterday around 11 at night.

I must say that it was the most suspenseful, heart pumping game/drama I've played to date. I've never thought so deeply, and second guessed my decisions as much as I did in Heavy Rain.

The game was truly a masterpiece and I'm now on my second play through.

I just found these incredibly funny game review videos.

The above is rather apt for HAF, methinks :)

The review for heavy rain is also very funny.

I asked this on facebook and got the "it's guys, you can't understand" repsonse....

Why do guys enjoy playing their video games yet at the same time will get so upset while playing them?

My husband does this all the time; he loves to play the video games then almost all I hear coming from the room is cussing; not so much if he isn't playing live games though yet he typically is playing live.

It is fun.  We enjoy playing the game and then we come to a boss.  That boss kicks our ass.  We spend an hour or two leveling, getting better gear, reading a strategy or two online and when we face that boss again we beat him.  Though frustrated just a short time earlier we get gratification for working hard and being clever and defeating that boss.  We feel like we really accomplished something when it is really an illusion.  If you play a video game and it doesn't frustrate you to some extent then the game will probably suck because it won't be a challenge to you.

Talk about a lazy response...

I've heard girls get pretty angry at games, too.
But the occasional frustration of losing is nothing compared to the joy of winning. It's hard to enjoy video games if you can't accept loss.
It's kind of like being a big fan of any sport. When your team loses, it can be frustrating, but that's part of the thrill. And it makes winning that much sweeter.
What I don't have an answer for is Live. I never understood the appeal of playing a game with swearing thirteen-year-olds with prepubescent voices when there's the alternative of enjoying a game by yourself.
That may just be my introversive gaming personality... I have a hard time playing games with others.

Don't get me wrong, that's a fantastic and creative video, but I've StumbledUpon it five or six times now... it got really popular, really fast.

(I know this doesn't have much to do with you post, but...)
Am I the only one that thinks this series kinda died after Red Alert 2?
"Close to 2,000 years ago, a guy called Jesus claimed to be the son of God and preformed 'miracles.' We worshiped him. Close to twenty years ago, a guy named David did the same thing in Waco, Texas. We killed him. Now, I understand that our standards had changed by the second guy; what I don't understand is why we still worship the first guy."[/

... can't say, as I've not played any of the C&C series.

(but that does tend to happen with sequel after sequel after...)
