Politics is bullshit, layers upon layers of it.

Politics is a game of compromise. It's settling-for-less-the-job, where the objective is to settle for the "least amount" of less in a way that would see your preferred position applied and maintained. Of course these days, it's fashionable to forget that, in stead making politics a vessel for pushing the entirety of one's own agenda with little regard for cost and sustainability.
