American Anne Sacoolas will stand trial for the death of Harry Dunn in the UK early next year. Mr. Dunn died when Ms. Sacoolas drove the wrong way.  She was the wife of a diplomat and claimed immunity, returning to the US. I understand that extradition was denied, but that she will appear by video.

Any American who tries to drive in England is taking a risk. It is too easy to revert back to your habit of driving on the other side of the road. Clearly there was negligence, and I understand that her insurance company or someone paid a significant amount in a civil matter. However, criminal liability is another issue. I am not sure if she was under the influence or not, have not been following closely. How do you think it will turn out, Brits?

i am not british, but i ride a motorcycle and i risk death all the time because of idiots like this woman. she is responsible and should be penalized for negligenceat the very least.

the fact that she fled the country to avoid accountability should factor in this case.

i learned to drive in the right seat and when i came to america i managed the switch without killing anybody.

The big issue, after the death, of this trial is that Anne claimed diplomatic immunity. She lived on a US airbase, she is not a diplomat, she lived there with her husband. She left without presenting herself to the police. The fact that she would not face her actions is what 'tastes' bad.

I don't know if being a spouse of a diplomat gets you immunity, I'm not sure that all diplomats get immunity either.
From my viewpoint the attitude of the US to other countries can be as might is right deplorable as China or Russia.

Julian Assange?
Ye, the murderous regime demanding custody of their accuser, imagine the reaction if Russia or China tried that on.
Take my advice, don't listen to me.
