Always question all authorities because the authority you don't question is the most dangerous... except me, never question me.

Indeed. Those ginger kitties get me every time.

How do cats sleep like that? We've got eight (yes eight) here in the house. They are so flexible but it still puzzles me how they can sleep like that?

the possums and raccoons have graduated to independent living, sort of. they're all nocturnal, so i don't see them much. but last night i was sleeping in th ewarehouse where its cooler, and i heard a thunk. turned on a light, and there was a halfgrown possum staring back at me. so i said hello and turned back to go to sleep again, while th epossum explored the warehouse and made thunking noises from all over.

in th emeantime the other one was at the house, bothering the kids who were trying to play a video game. eventually my son picked it up and escorted it back outside.

that's not a wild animal, says my number three son.

ooooh yes it is, aren't you, my little possumm baby, says my wife, feeding the possum graham crackers in the kitchen in the midst of feet and cats and dogs

so what about the raccoons, i ask. did you see them last night?

theyre fine. the come in to the living room and climb up on me if im siting down. last night they tried to help me wash the dishes by rubbing their hands in the dishwater and making a mess.

oh?

yes and then one stole starbuck's toast out of the toaster right in front of him because he wasn't quick enough to fetch it himself when it was done.

ah . . .

i fixed the dishes issue, she says. i took an ice tray out on the porch and dumped it all into the water dish. the rwcoons ran out of the kitchen and spent their time trying to grab the ice cubes floating in the water instead.

if it's watery, you can distract a raccoon with it. i'll see whether anybody takes photographs

My grandson brought his tortoise for a visit.

Sally was not impressed. Terry didn't smell interesting.
