I came back and edited the post today, even though I could already see it. And that's when I put the .jpg at the end.

If you look at your post it says you edited it.
When I got to your post there was no edit note.
So I changed the link.
Just adding .jpg to the link that was there would not have made the image visible as it was a link to the page the image was on, not the image itself. Which is what I put there.  :)
