Yes. The difference between a unicycle and a bicycle is the amount of time you have to start gaining momentum before the bike falls down. People tend to hesitate more on unicycles, hence the perception that they are more difficult to ride.

I'm learning to unicycle after borrowing one from a neighbour. I've been practicing for a couple of weeks on-and-off. I'm not sure how close I am to getting it, but I'm sure I'm getting closer. I'm not going to let it beat me as its been an ambition of mine for years  Anyone else tried it or got any tips? It's easy. Get on and peddle. my thighs and ankles disagree. But feel free to send me a link to your tutorial...  |

I can actually ride ride a unicycle though I can not really give any tips, as I can just do it, well I haven't tried in about 10 years. Maybe i can give a tip though but it may not work. Initially it is similar to pulling a wheelie and maintaining it to get going, but then becomes like maintaining the yoga pose vrikshasana, you imagine your center of balance near to your groin making only slight movements keeping your arse tight and back straight. |

Just got back from the Boulder Creek Festival. Had a very fun time. T got his face painted like a skeleton, and Ellie (our dog) got lots of friendly attention. We also got to see our favorite "attraction." Every year the Kutandara Center puts on a free concert on the Kid's Stage with their high school aged students playing marimbas. I love it! I want T to do that when he's older! This was filmed elsewhere, but this is the Kutandara Center kids playing a concert:

Ali, sounds like you had a good time! I am currently in another city, and enjoying my visit here very much.  And on either Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, it will get much more awesome because I'll most likely be meeting up with another HAFer. |

I'm comfortable with the recommended stationary 'rocking' and then progressed to rolling alongside my fence. I'm not sure what my next step should be. Some YouTube tutorials show learning alongside a wall and some show it in open space. Amusingly, one lazy tutorial just says trial and error is the only real way to learn - maybe that's true...? I've also seen some inspiring footage of nutters doing off-road stunts... i'll leave that for a while...! |

Drinking doesn't solve anything. Best case, it puts dealing with things off for a little while. Worst case, it makes your life that much shittier and complicated. Take that from someone who had to forcibly wrench herself away from the bottle.

Oh, I dislike alcohol, being drunk and even my stupid painkillers, so I doubt drowning my sorrows will get me addicted quickly.
It would, however, add a wagonload of misery to my tomorrow, and while my current misery would love the company, I sort of... Have things to do. So yeah... I think I'll remain sober.
