Logan; You really are in the middle of the nation ( spell that nowhere). Pittsburg Kansas brags about being the geographic center of the US. I have visited Pittsburg several times for business purposes. You are evidently within a hootin 'n a holler of that illustrious Kansas metropolis. Sarcasm aside, that little Kansas town has a lot more industry than one would expect from......Nowheresville.

I have been to Pittsburg in the summer as well as the winter. Dear god deliver me from such a desolate place in which the grand eminence  has placed some of his most conspicuously devout adherants. Traveling south, down the interstate from Kansas City, I noticed that trees were sparse. Something like two trees per mile. Pittsburg, as you probably know, has a small college that sometimes distinguishes itself with athletic team prowess. I might have passed through your town on the way to Springfield airport in order to get the hell out of Dodge...or Kansas as the case may be. Holy shit, the Phelps are holding forth in Witchita or Topeka or one of those nearby Kansas bastions of jesusdom.

The long or short term solution is for you get out of that nice little town where you live. I have no doubt whatever that there are some people there who are kind, generous, and loving humans. You can find the same sort of folk elsewhere.

Consider Florida. We have beaches, colleges, museums, symphony orchestras, broadway traveling productions, sunshine a plenty, scantily clad women, and trees and foliage which never succumbs to death by snow because we do not have snow. We have plenty of Atheists too.  If you have any sort of marketable skill then figure to take it to a more receptive location, where the first thing a stranger is asked is never about what church you have adopted.

Yes, Pittsburg is about a 20 minute drive from CJ. I absolutely hate the winters here, snow is so stupid! Sure, it's pretty to see on the first day, but as the week goes on it gets all slushy and the ground gets muddy and it just gets gross and crappy. I think I would love florida. I've never been there. Went to cali with the family when I was 10 and on a road trip through Texas when I was 17. Other than that, though, I have not travelled far from this little town in the middle of nothingness. I am determined to get out of here as soon as I get my radiology degree. So by the time I move I will definitely have a marketable skill.

I'm from a tiny town (population apprx 4000) in southwest missouri called Carl Junction, its about 5 minutes from Joplin, and Joplin is about an hour and a half drive to springfield, a 3 hour drive to Kansas City, and a 4 hour drive to St. Louis.

It's known for the forests of mainly oak trees, hills, and prairies. It is a very boring place to live for 21+ years. It is a 9 hour drive from the closest beach.

It's in an area sometimes called the "Bible Belt", which basically means that it is the heart of Christianity in the USA. When you grow up in an area like this it is very hard to admit it to yourself and especially anyone else that you are truly Atheist.

I would post a pic, but for some reason can't figure out how. So here is a hyperlink... http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Carl+Junction,+MO&hl=en&ll=37.160317,-94.570312&spn=34.915305,76.289063&sll=38.304661,-92.437099&sspn=4.327333,9.536133&oq=Carl+Jun&hnear=Carl+Junction,+Jasper,+Missouri&t=p&z=4

I can't wait to move! Lol.

Oooh those photos are fun!  Smiley

I probably did this before, but I'll do it again.

I'm from Northern Virginia about 20 minutes or so outside of Washington DC.  I live in the Western Suburbs.  I'm a Virgnian born and raised, however, I'm not a conservative as a lot of Virginians are.  Then again, Northern Virginia tends to skew more liberal, but just a tiny bit.

I suspect that Claire is actually a clandestine CIA agent or maybe a Brit secret service agent...whaddaya call that?....M3 or some such. That is why she is going to Washington. I have long recognized that she is a shrewd chick but I have only now realized her actual identity and purpose. Shhhh, Keep it quiet.
