Never watched it. Too engrossed in the highly immoral and pornographic Game of Thrones. :watching:

They have dragons. And sex. Lots of sex. What does Downton Abbey have? Hmm?

Bad acting. Wait, does GoT have bad acting too?

I wouldn't consider it stellar but it isn't bad either.

Well, Lady Mary once accidentally fucked a man to death, and Lady Edith had a bastard and passed it off as her ward (as they did back in those days).  But other than that it was pretty tame.

:headshake: Well then I won't be watching it, I only watch shows that the Devil had a hand in producing.

"I like to watch", said Chauncey Gardiner.

I've both read the book and watched the movie starring Peter Sellers several times. I'm referring to "Being There". The novel was written by "Jerzy Kosinski" and for which the movies was based on.

(I've read several of his novels as well as "Being There", including "Painted Bird", "Steps", and "Passion Play", and highly recommend them)

Quote
... Being There was cited by several political commentators, including Sam Harris and Malcolm Jones of The Daily Beast, in comparison to the rise of Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the United States

Two men who are almost purely the creatures of television. Two men who both glean what they know of the world from what we once so quaintly called the idiot box. One man reads very little, and the other cannot read or write at all. TV frames their views of life. You might even say that for them, TV is life. Simultaneously, TV has made both men celebrities. But it’s not merely that TV allows this pair to find fame and flourish. More than that, this medium that deals almost exclusively in images and surfaces is the only venue through which either man could ever have ascended so meteorically to celebrity. So, is Donald Trump our Chauncey Gardiner?
I'm truly sorry, but I can't keep explaining this simple thing to you over and over again hoping that you'll finally understand something so simple and obvious.

I adore it! I think it is a great show which shocases just how complicated people and their relationships can be.

Even though Im a nun, I am a bit of a romantic at heart.

I was so rooting for Mary and Matthew to tie the knot! How happy I was when it happened!

It also showcases how bad people can be and the consequences of sin.

Unlike other shows on tv these days, it is not afraid to depict prayer and religion!

Yeah, I haven't noticed this fear anywhere on American TV.  We're pretty much swimming in prayer and religion.  Also a little mystified about showing the consequences of sin bit, since Lady Edith (her with the bastard) ended up marrying one of the richest men in England and becoming, I believe, a Countess to boot.  I'm not sure you could discourage anything with consequences like those.

I think the whole fear thing feeds into their persecution complex, they really like to keep telling themselves that story. The poor Christian majority having their rights trampled on by a small portion of secularists and unbelievers. :blahblah: It's Goliath throwing a tantrum after David hit him with a tiny stone.

  Well, Jesus said they'd be persecuted for his sake and God damn it they will be even if they have invent it themselves.
