Hello, what a crazy ordeal.

I get a feeling that Christianity is about destroying a person's self worth, self image, and then building you up from the ground up, with a dependancy on god belief, Christianity and the church.

It is a very common brainwashing technique.
I hope you realise that the problem was them, not you.
They have spent hundreds if not 1,000 years perfecting their technique of destroying people's self so it was very hard for you to not fall for it.

In my opinion a life partner is one that respects, and admires you, that supports and encourages you with regards to your own hopes and dreams. Not one that knocks you down, points the finger of blame at you and is hell bent on changing you.

Christie, you deserve much better, you are young and have much time to find a more supportive and loving partner.
Believe in yourself, you are a great person!

so true. after 30 yrs in christian circles, it seems mostly harmless (all smiles, hugs and arm waving) but when you get to the nitty gritty they do love to break you down, only so they can build you up with a reliance on god. yr then left with a belief that you can't do anything alone and that you need to be full of the holy spirit just to be able to smile.
those meetings are a new level of evil. i'm so impressed that you managed to keep yr head xxx
