Political Narrative I: This Simple Idea . . .

This Simple Idea is the Reactor at the Heart of the Conservative Death Star

Tarico wrote a three part analysis of America's current political woes.  This first one deals with why Conservatives are the way they are, the second one deals with what's causing the Liberals to eat their own so often, and I'm still looking for Narrative III.

I was originally attracted to this series as her problems understanding Conservative thought are similar to my own:

Quote
Conservatives—including otherwise fair-minded and decent people–sometimes have priorities that defy my sense of reality and morality. As conditions evolve and these priorities don’t, I believe they put at risk not only the future of American democracy but also the future of our planetary life support system. When I, as a psychologist and writer, try to wrap my brain around what’s going on, I find myself bumping up against an ancient story, one that imbeds an idea so bad and yet so appealing that it may ultimately prove to be a planet buster.
