A bigger plane today, heading for Hanoi and a meetup with Rocketman.    In my mind, best he was on a trip  when he had used his executive privilege to demand: " Fly Me To The Moon".

Any way, thanks Joe.

The latest crazy maneuver began like this: Obama makes deal with Iran so that the Iranians cut back on their nuke development.  In return we give them aback a previously impounded boatload of money that was theirs in the first place. We also reduce the impact of certain embargos.

The ayatollah and his minions are evidently behaving according to the deal.  Ahhh!  Condityional peace is good.

Individual one revokes the agreement and hassles the Iranians because of their alleged involvement in Syria or for whatever reason he pulles out of his ass.

Iranians say that if you ain't going to honor the original peaceful agreement, then you can go fuck yourself and we will do what we damned well please.

Individual one sends naval forces to the Persian Gulf to challenge the impertinent ayatollah and his minions. Thus escalating a difference of political and developmental posture into a military crisis.

Individual one is influenced by warrior man Bolton and threatens to involve us into yet another war, the fourth one in which we will be entangled.

Ho fucking Hum!  What next?

The numbers show that in 1985, Mr. Trump reported losses of $46.1 million from his core businesses — largely casinos, hotels and retail space in apartment buildings. They continued to lose money every year, totaling $1.17 billion in losses for the decade.

Trump lost $1.2 billion in ten years. That is very impressive... at least it leave a fairly big impression. I really think he is the only one capable of doing it.

According to the Times, that makes him *literally* the biggest loser in the US-of-A.
And his base will not be affected.

Kelly Ann Conway, Trumps former mouthpiece, is quoted thus:  "people are motivated far more by what affects them than they are about what offends them".

Conway is one smart woman.  I do not like her at all but I still admire that bit of wisdom.  She famously claimed that there are "alternative facts". The same kind of bullshit that our Prez is so adept at promulgating.

Not sure I agree with that. Most of Trump's base is motivated by fear. Stoked by Trump and fueled by an ignorance that's been fostered intentionally by the republicans.

If they were really motivated by what affects them, they'd have realized that foreigners aren't coming here to steal their jobs, or that mining coal might be a poor job choice in the long run, or that when you vote for a liar and a cheat he's not gonna deliver on any of his promises. Where are all the "best people" and "better deals"?

Well... :notsure:
If she constantly makes a derogatory comment that offends someone, eventually it will affect them, and it will motivate them enough to do something about it.

Mags, Never mind Conway for a moment.  DJT promised the coal miners that they'd get their jobs back, that we would destroy ACA and give them "far better" cheaper health care.........and that is only two of the promises made to the unsophisticated masses that are yet to be fulfilled.  Those are some of the  things that would definitely affect the lives of the citizens.   Those citizens, many of them goody two shoes evangelist types,  find it in their hearts and minds to forgive the offensive nastiness of DJT because they hope, and want desperately for those promises to become reality.

Bottom line; Given benefits or hopeful promises, we can beguile ourselves into forgiving the things that offend us. It is the bottom of Maslow's pyramid that is most essential to our survival.  After that part it is onward and upward which can also be promised by charlatans

Calling your opposition ignorant is fun, makes you relatively brighter.
I think maybe this "fear" thing is a way of belittling the other groups position.
Is the racial supremacist whose idea of a fun Saturday night is beating up some minorities really, really fearful?

If they were really motivated by what affects them, they'd have realized that foreigners aren't coming here to steal their jobs, or that mining coal might be a poor job choice in the long run, or that when you vote for a liar and a cheat he's not gonna deliver on any of his promises. Motivation is complicated, there's a lot of partisan polarization going on these days.
I'm not convinced a high level of immigration wouldn't have a downward effect on wages, particularly the low skilled.
