That sounds good Gloucester, love a good bit of honey roast ham.

I bought myself a big lump of blue cheese, working out what I'm going to have it with.

OldGit

Nice big omelette by Mrs Git.  Perfection.

:fingerwag:Stop that nasty habit xSP.   Did you know that gorillas bite their nails?

More gorilla lore..... do you know why gorillas have big nostrils ?  It's because they have big fingers.

Another experiment to use up odds and ends of food:

Diced chicken, browned, then cooked with chopped up cherry tomatoes, sweet chillis, olives, spring onions, red bell pepper and red kidney beans. Half of this stuff, excepting the chicken and beans, was liquidized with olive oil, garlic puree and a little cayenne as a sauce that was added in the last minute or so of cooking.

I will be doing this, or variations, again, maybe  with fish, sausage or whatever.

We had trout.  There was funny potatoes and other stuff with it.  Very nice.

Looks like a combination of ravioli and dumplings to me.

You are right. Maultaschen are similar like ravioli, but larger in size. It is a traditional German dish that originated in the region of Swabia (in Baden-Württemberg). It consists of an outer-layer of pasta dough which encloses a filling traditionally consisting of minced meat, smoked meat, spinach, bread crumbs and onions and flavoured with various herbs and spices (e.g. pepper, parsley and nutmeg).  The Kloster Maultaschen contains dark monastery beer, which makes them taste better than the original maultaschen.

They sound delicious.

I had Shropshire Fidget Pie last night, with cheesey mashed potatoes.  Fidget pie  contains all kinds of bits of meat - presumably odds and sods left over.  It is very nice indeed, although I had never heard of it before.

EDIT if you Google it, you only find pork or ham with apples.  Mine wasn't like that at all.

Dave

Basa fish fillets that have spent the day marinading in Cajun spices and served with chopped red pepper, sweet chillis, olives, spring onions, Portabello mushrooms and cherry tomatoes all sliced and diced and softened together in a little water then finished in olive oil.

Was going to be in wraps but forgot to buy the wrappers!
