Our official name is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.  Great Britain is the name of the main island and the individual regions that make up the UK and NI are: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.  England, Scotland and Wales are all on Great Britain, Northern Ireland is part of the Irish Island.
