Todays newspaper carried an article about four hospitals in the Detroit area. It seems that a considerable number of Nurses, anesthetists, and other specialists who work in those hospitals, live across the bridge in Windsor Ontario or thereabouts. They are Canadians, four hundred or more of them. Some of them have been informed that they are not legal and can not work in the US. They can probably get H-1B visas but that kind of worker visa costs an average of $4000 and will take at least 6 months to get through the system.
Maybe Bruno will know more of the details. I am concerned that the Detroit hospitals may suffer a serious shortage of credentialed medical workers if this continues as announced.
Might this go down in both directions? There are some Michigan workers who commute to the Canadian side for their job. Crossing over to Hamilton Ontario is pretty common I think.
