Huh, from cheerful to grumpy in one day!

Had my eyes checked the other day, got a copy of the specialist's letter to my GP.

He says there may be complications because I am on a certain medication. But I last took that medication in September 2015. So he is working on out if date data.

Not the first time this has happened but the first time it may affect shether or not I get the trestment I want. I was asked to bring a list of current meducations to the clinic (I always carry one) but was never actually asked for the list by anyone.

So, another letter of complaint to the liaison service and another letter to the specialist putting the record straight so he can make an accurate decision!

I shudder to think how many people suffer wrong decisions bcause of sloppy record systems like this. People who don't have the ability to cross check things.

Worrying indeed, especially knowing how slowly the wheels of the NHS grind. Hope you get the treatment you need.  :-

Due to some medicine that I've been taking for a month now, I have lost about 95% of my sense of taste. No salty, no sweet, no flavor. I will eat, because I know I need to, but the pleasure is gone and it's deeply disturbing. Everything is like mush in my mouth. I just never realized how much I would miss TASTE. So now I'm focusing on texture and crunch. Almonds are good, celery is great. Everything else is shit. And I have probably 3 more months of this.  :-[

Try one of these.

OK, so I've been unavailable for a couple weeks, so I just saw this, but it's funny because all the boys in my house love hot spicy food. So as an experiment I had my son put a few drops of some Scorpion Sauce (he actually dumped it) on my tongue. Well, for the first time in my life, I was swishing that around my mouth, feeling pretty tough, feeling nothing.   So I spit it out because my throat can still feel. And then I swallowed. And holy crap, I felt it then. But nope, there was no spicy sensation on my tongue at all. And incidentally, I have quit taking that medicine because I can't bear the idea that this malady could be permanent!

I love this poem,...going to memorize it.

I was trying order the first refill of my medication from the mail order pharmacy I have to go through.* Because it is considered a speciality medication, I have to "talk to a representative." This is not mentioned until after your transaction fails to process through the website.

I could understand that when I was on medication that had to be shipped on ice. You'd want to make sure someone was home to receive that. However, this medication is a tablet. By the time it gets to me, a bit of time in the mailbox shouldn't be an issue. I work for this company and every time I have to order my prescription, it reminds me of why people hate it.  :P

*Going through the mail order pharmacy, it is only $50 out of pocket. If I filled it through a local pharmacy, it would be nearly $4000.

Is that a mistake? $4,000:whirly:

Nope, not a mistake. My previous medication was $3500 a month before the insurance kicked in. The one before that was nearly $5000 a month. Fortunately I have pretty good prescription coverage through work. These are all fairly new drugs, on the market for a decade or less. They are used to treat various cancers and autoimmune diseases. In terms of costs, they are expensive, but hardly the most expensive drugs out there.

Geez! What a worry; not conducive to staying well Velma. We are so privileged here to have free prescriptions over the age of 60. Even under that age, it is possible to buy a 12-month certificate ' which caps the amount you spend in a year to £104. I wish you all the best. I know it's a horrible disease.

Two years ago I had a 34 inch waist, then and now also I had/have short legs, needed 29" legs max (and having to shorten those. In my local men's clothe shops I vould find 30", 32" and 36" in abundance, some in short leg. 34" was quite rare.

Now, 34" seems to be the commonest minimum size in three local shops, loads of them. Trouble is I am now 32" waist, 30" without a belt (still short legs). Yesterday I found one pair of 32"s, in black, with long legs (33").. Fed up with black and grey. Looking for slimmish fit as well - most "regular".

I used to have Lovat green, Burgundy, sand, stone, light blue and silver grey. coloured trousers. Can get denims in more interesting colours but I like "proper" creased trousers.

British mass produced men's "smart casual" clothing has become boring.  :(

This is another one of those times when I wish I lived in a true first world country instead of the USA.

Autoimmune diseases are pretty awful. The best treatment so far, including the expensive new drugs, it to try to weaken the immune system in some manner so it is not as aggressive. That's why I laugh at people who say they want an super strong immune system. I tell them they can have my super strong immune system as long as they take the autoimmune disease that goes with it.

There was a weed smoker in a chat last night saying that weed cures cancer and that I was stupid for finding evidence to the contrary. He kept insisting I was dumb and that I outright lie. I told him that marijuana research about cancer is not very far along at all. I also wasn't the grumpy one. 😁
