Sheeesh Silver, Brazil has some bad assed critters.

Not as bad assed as Australia's weird critters, I think!  The Goliath spider looks big, hairy and scary with those large fangs but it's not among the scariest, IMO. I think spiders that are smaller and less conspicuous and that can do more damage such as the Black Widow are the ones to look out for!

I've never been bitten by a tarantula but I have been close enough to a few who were threatened by my presence and started "shaving" their abdomen with their hind legs. When those hairs land on your skin it really hurts! You feel disorientated and the only thought on your mind is to leave the area as quick as you can. You don't see what's hurting you. Other than the pain, it does little lasting damage though, unless you breathe the hairs in I would imagine. It could possibly trigger an allergic reaction. :notsure:

Must get a mega-sized one for Bluenose.

To catch him? Oh! Sorry, so he can catch Ozzie mega-poisonous arachnids.

Now can't stop imagining a Bluenose-catcher.

Come on guys! I would rather have a few spiders in my house that cockroaches or mosquitoes.

^ I would like to know where in Brazil that was filmed so I can steer clear.  :P Imagine getting a few hundred of those in your hair?

I'm not sure it's happening right now -- the earliest mention I could find for Brazil was 2013.  There were also some baby spiders "ballooning" in Australia in 2015/2016.  When you're a spider, you take your fun where you can find it.

Bluenose

Well, true.  But to be fair, you're probably more likely to be struck by lightening than get bitten by a dangerous spider.  Also, there's really only one species that's deadly, the Sydney funnel-web, which is pretty much confined to an area within 100 miles (160 km) of the Sydney CDB.  Mind you there are a few other species that can give a painful bite, as well as complications like necrotising skin ulcers, but hey, you'll get a great story you can tell the grandkids about why you had to have your leg cut off back in the day!
