Ha ha!  Lil' Spotty is just an employee / drone / henchman. The paycheck comes from higher up.

Having met a few self described hackers, their motivation isn't always money. The smart ones hack and then tell the people on the receiving end so. Then contract themselves out to improve their security. It's a long tried method of bank robbers and other heist people.

Other people are just angsty and want to cause problems so they just fuck up whatever they want.

Then the ones that are politically motivated and public, like anonymous, end up getting infiltrated by other politically motivated groups. This is where big brother would take them down, but keep it running just so they can capture anyone else with inspiration to be a cyber problem.
