Title: I Need A New War Song
Post by: xSilverPhinx on September 05, 2018, 03:56:46 AM
Generally I listen to a song over and over again as I work, as a way to keep me from getting distracted and taking excessive breaks from what needs to be done --  which can ultimately lead to procrastination.

Procrastination is a big no-no. Procrastination is the enemy.

I need a new war song, one that preferably does not contain lyrics (because discernable words can be distracting). Something that will make me feel like painting lines across my cheeks and type feverishly to the beat.  :guitar: Drums and/or bass are welcome!  ;D

Does anyone use music in the same way? Any suggestions?  8)

I don't use music that way, but I thought you may find Aaron Copland's Fanfare For The Common Man useful.

To name a few. Take your pick with this guy. FUCKING AWESOME! Doesn't even begin to describe how good he is.

You want  stirring war music? Then sample this one. It is The Ride To Dubno.   I am not sure but I think it is a tale about Ukrainian cossacks hauling ass northward to kill  those hated Lithuanians.  Lithuania was once a very large nation with some serious influence.

Here is five minutes of smashing music played by one of the worlds premier orchestras. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asoLIJpvb_w

Enjoy.

I use it as a paddling tune.  From memory, not with a techy player thing.

It's not instrumental but the words don't come through very well and don't mean much really.

Let me know what you think about the ones I posted. I can turn you on to more. Buckethead is all over the map as far as genre is concerned.

When I absolutely have to get something done, I find this played on a continuous loop useful.  Just as long as it doesn't lead to biting thru anyones jugular.

Yes, I can imagine a bunch of Cossacks riding frantically to that tune, but me being me I can't help but find it humorous.  :P

Buckethead is a him. A single individual.

He is extremely interesting, to say the least.

It's kinda dirge like so I'm thinking dirgish or dirgey.

This one turned up as a suggested video on Youtube, I listened to it and loved it! Those drums. :tellmemore: There's a slightly hypnotic quality to it.

No, it's from the Netflix series. It's a great series I am told, but I'm afraid to start watching it before the holidays because I am almost certain to binge-watch the series in detriment to all else!

When I was coming in here I actually had some folk songs about war in mind, but it seems that's not what you're looking for. Oh well.

All I can think of is this:

God, I'm such a weirdo... But it has no vocals, is upbeat, and has a lot of percussion.

Perhaps this loud brassy wind ensemble rendition would be better:

Try this one. It has war like passages and a woman who can hammer the kettles  with great gusto.

Ye fuck what the authority figures want, give 'em folk!

I tried and failed to find an acceptable youtube of Bob's Masters of War

QuoteCome you masters of war
You that build the big guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks
You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly
Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain
You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you sit back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
While the...
You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins
How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
That even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do
Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good?
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could?
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul
And I hope that you die
And your death will come soon
I'll follow your casket
By the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead
Songwriters: Bo

"You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins"

Our current prime minister a little while back brought a lump of coal into parliament, patted it affectionately and said it's nothing to be feared and then launched into some mockery of the unfriends of coal.

But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

I can't listen to this and not imagine myself running up the courthouse steps with fists pumping the air. It's the trumpets.
